My understanding is that members get a 25% discount if making a cash reservation instead of using points. Is this a straight forward any time of year/any DVC resort discount? Also, how do you pay for a cash reservation? Is it the same at making reservations through Disney Reservations where you put a deposit down and pay the balance upon arrival?
I used a pin code I received for SSR. For a 1 bedroom my total is $2,105.00 for 6 nights. The price also includes 2 - 1 day hoppers. This is a Saturday arrival, leaving on Friday.
The rack rate I found is $455 a night before tax. For 6 nights the total with tax is $3,071.00.
So my question is; can I do any better on the rate with a DVC discount instead of the pin code I received?

Thanks?

The member discount is 25% and is subject to availability. There will be days and times where you won't be able to reserve.

One thing you can do to find out which is better is to give MS a call tomorrow and ask them to check dates and the amount for you. This way, you can compare.

But, it sounds like your pin code deal is pretty good.

Thanks. I will try calling MS tomorrow to see if there are any discounts available for my dates (1st week in May) and compare.

I agree, that pin code does appear to be a great deal. Originally, I was going to use it at the Poly with the dining plan but I enjoy being in a 1 bedroom suite and having the washer/dryer in my room and a full kitchen to save on eating out.

With 25% off, I calculate $2,303 with the DVC discount. So the PIN will be cheaper and includes the 1 day tickets (which can be upgraded).

Couple of things to consider:

If you go through CRO with the PIN, you will get daily housekeeping. But you will not get free internet since it's not a points reservation.

As far as payment, you will not have to pay for it until you check-in if you go with DVC. With CRO, you will owe the full amount 45 days out (with a deposit now).

Good points about the housekeeping and internet. I will probably bring my laptop but just to upload my photos. I might not need the internet or just pay for it for a day or two.
I'm going with the pin code.
Thanks for your help!
