DVC 10 Year Anniversary Celebration Cruise

Thanks for the heads up on this one Pluto.

A "Cash" comparision
I went and compared the cash price to the Springtime Magic (STM)promotion that DCL is offering for the same cruise. The DVC price for the adults is identical to the STM for a Cat 10 (only cat I tested). It does appear that the DVC special child rate may be lower than the Springtime Magic Rate.

Just trying to do my part :)
Notice the boards are a little slow lately with the holidays and all.

You're right Robin, doesn't seem all to great considering my upcoming Jan 7 night cruise was a cash price of 2850 for cat 4. This is 2700 for 4 nights. Granted I lucked out with the great rate in January. But it's also a different season I believe? Too lazy to look right now.

:o

If we hadn't already booked a 4-day for early May I think we would have gone for it. I would love to cruise with my fellow DVC'ers. Would love to see what special events they have planned.

Do you receive e-mails regularly from DVC? I have never received any e-mail - should I be registering or send in my e-mail address somewhere? Please let me know. Thanks a million.

If you haven't registered your e-mail address, please e-mail Member Services and provide them with your full name, Membership ID number and your e-mail address so they can update their records.

They have been sending out regular emails to members with little reminders and tips. Nothing too noteworthy, but a nice little reminder to keep in touch.

Enjoy!

I think the nicest thing they have been doing lately with email is sending out banking reminders. Not that I have ever had to bank my points yet though.

We just took for 3 day Wonder cruise two weeks ago and while on board were offered the chance to sign up for a 7 day April-May or Sept-December 15th cruise in category 5 for $1029 plus a $200 shipboard credit.

The "special" DVC rate for category 5 in April is $929 and $150 in credit for a 4 DAY cruise. Doesn't seem so special in comparison.

If you rent the 240 points required for two adults in category 5 would get you $2400. Paying Disney $1858 means you come out $542 ahead. Or $392 if you deduct the ship board credit. But if you add a $75 reservation fee (?) you are back at $467 ahead. Seems like the better deal. (Of course the 7 day deal beats them all)

And BTW if Disney seems to value points at popular DVC resorts in the buy back at $10, why didn't they make the cruise points for category 5 a more realistic 92 points? Or can we assume when they aren't selling something using a buy back that they value our DVC points as being worth less?

Sure, I know DCL and DVC aren't the same but it seems like they hope DVC folk can't do the math or won't waste the time renting points (or don't have any left to rent).

Happy Holiday Sailings,
Dasha

We've asked at least two times to be added, were told that we would be, but we still never receive these emails that others post about. grrr
