I travel solo - it’s always a 1 bedroom for me. I need a washer and dryer and real fridge. I keep a lot of my Disney clothes in my Owner’s Locker so those have to be clean before they’re packed up and I also like to take my leftovers back to my room (nothing like leftover Via Nap pizza at 3am) and stock up on Les Halles goodies for the week. I freeze my water bottles so they stay cold in the parks and only drink Diet Pepsi (which I bring with me) so I’ve gotta have a real fridge and freezer for that.

Uh oh... my partner and I are headed to WDW for the first time in Sept and splurged for the BCV 1 bdrm since it was our "First"

Is there something I should take to prevent the onset of "add-on-itis"?

LOL. Just a warning, BCV can be hard to get at the 7mo mark at certain times of the year, like during F&W in the fall. You’ll obviously need a contract there if your first is somewhere else, so the danger of addonitis is actually worse at BCV, I think. But enjoy!

We think BCV is the best of the DVC properties. Walking distance to EP and HS, a great pool complex, a small quieter building for the DVC but next to two larger buildings with all the stuff and amenities you could want. And we love the vibe, it speaks to our beach-loving souls.

Disney vacations and buying DVC forced me to figure out my company’s Byzantine PTO policies and actually make my vacation plans and use my PTO. Up until 2023, I was stuck in an accumulating and selling PTO cycle because I couldn’t get holiday weeks off due to lack of seniority, and I had no other vacation plans or anywhere to go.

Now I know where I’m going and I even have a room booked before my PTO request comes along. I know my most likely approval dates and easiest to book dates and rooms for DVC. Actually going on vacation is awesome! I actually think points based timeshares are fantastic for people in a situation like this.

After years of resisting, we finally stayed at Grand Floridian in a resort studio and we LOVED it! We are finding that each resort has something we like (location, theme, multiple transportation options). However, VWL do not appeal to us at all. We live in the mountains so it just doesn’t do it for us.

After years of resisting, we finally stayed at Grand Floridian in a resort studio and we LOVED it! We are finding that each resort has something we like (location, theme, multiple transportation options). However, VWL do not appeal to us at all. We live in the mountains so it just doesn’t do it for us.

Glad you loved it, we enjoy the resort studios more than the traditional studios at VGF.

For us, the primary difference is the location and the space between and on both sides of the beds.

We are finding that each resort has something we like (location, theme, multiple transportation options). However, VWL do not appeal to us at all. We live in the mountains so it just doesn’t do it for us.

After being strictly Boardwalk owners for 25 years, we bought an add-on contract at VGF specifically for those Resort Studios. I love them! I even prefer the “standard” resort view, requesting a pool view when available. We usually pair a few days at VGF with a longer Boardwalk stay, as BWV is our true home, but VGF’s Resort rooms are fabulous!

They are just hotel rooms. I much, much prefer the Deluxe studios in the main building.

Now, if they would have put a King bed in those hotel rooms, that would have been a game changer...

Yeah, I will say that I’m not exactly a huge fan of the studios. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great use of points, but I feel like if I spent this much money, I’d rather get a nicer/larger room than I could get at Coronado

It’s funny, I was talking on there, had a full weeklong Disney vacation, came back and the conversation was still going with no real resolution.
