Dutch Wonderland

Anyone ever go to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster PA? We may stop there on our way home from the beach this summer. Any tips on hotels or discount tickets?? Any info helpful!!! Thanks

It is a nice park, though there are not many thrill rides. Dutch Wonderland is great for younger kids. It is family friendly.

We left the park mid-day and ate at a local Amish restaurant (The Barn, in Bird-in-Hand) and returned to the park in the evening/afternoon. I forget where we stayed. It was a non-descript room at one of the national chains.

It is great for kids 6 and under who don't like wild rides. My DD now 7, loved Dutch Wonderland. We were going every year. We did the park in 1 1/2 days. You can buy a ticket there the night before you are going to the park and actually get in the park that very night for free. We always did this and the kids got on everything in a few hours. The next day we did the shows and revisited the rides and hung out at the waterpark part. This is probably DD's favorite park even next to WDW!

Definitely a park for younger children or those that do not like thrill rides. We went several years back when we were in Hershey. I'm a little fuzzy on distances etc, but the Amish View Inn is a GREAT place to stay in Lancaster and Miller's Restaurant is a great place to eat. In fact, Amish View has a dinner package with Millers.

When I was a kid, we went to Dutch Wonderland every year. I've taken my kids several times.

If you pack a lunch, there is a covered picnic area where you can eat. We packed a cooler last time.

I've seen ticket discounts, but I can't recall where - maybe AAA?

Dutch Wonderland is owned by Hershey Park now - I think you can get combo tickets that give admittance to both parks on consecutive days.

I've also seen combo tickets for Dutch W. and the nearby Strasburg Railroad.

To me the biggest downside to Dutch W. is the cost of adult admission - there are few rides for adults (other than to ride along with younger kids), so I feel a little ripped off paying nearly $30 each for my wife and I when we really aren't doing much other than walking around with the kids.

OMG!!!! I can't believe this place still exists!! I remember visiting here when I was a kid. The one thing that really sticks out to me is that they had a fake cow that you could milk !! I think the "milk" was just colored water, but as a kid growing up in a suburban area my brother and I got a big kick out of it.
