I know we have done this before BUT I believe that I have actual evidence, (you will have to take my word for it of course, ;) ) but I was out early this morning and in Windsor Locks, Ct, there is a Starbuck's drive through exactly acrossed the street from a Dunkin Donuts. While I was waiting at the light, I saw one car exit the drive through. I turned right and got in line behind five cars at the Dunkin Donuts drive through. The parking lot was half full. There were two cars in front of Starbucks. Cars also got in line behind me as I proceeded to the speaker. I saw another car drive up at Starbucks after about 5 minutes and my view was obstructed for the rest of the time. I contend that only 10% of "real live people" prefer Starbucks to Dunkin Donuts. I mean, who really likes burnt coffee?

FIL is a coffee grader - he asserts that the beans (where it all starts) DD buys are far better than "the trash" Starbucks buys. FWIW, according to FIL, the beans McDonalds buys are better too.

I love Starbucks. To be honest, I've never had DnD coffee. I don't go to DnD, because then I would get donuts, which would make me fat! I'm not nearly as tempted by the pastry at Starbucks.

The Starbucks I go to in the mornings and afternoons (two differant ones) are always busy. Not crowded, but busy.

SB! But I don't drink the reg. coffee...either white choc mocha, cinnamon or Chai Tea Latte.

I don't do DD (haven't for a long time anyway) - but aren't they quite a bit cheaper - might have a little bit to do with the longer lines. I happen to love Starbucks - but make it an occassional treat. Now if I loved a cheaper alternative - I could probably stop in more mornings than I can at Starbucks!?

the McDonalds thing about better beans - ewwww - I have had their coffee and I am finding that hard to believe.....

Well, considering we don't have any Dunkin donuts here anymore and that I live in SEATTLE, I have to go with Starbucks!

I never had DND btw! I don't eat Donuts, not even for free my SIL works for Krispy Kreme, she is the plant manager in NC, and she send us coupons for free donuts, but never used them. Only the coffee, free bags and bags of coffee, is good, but not like Starbucks!

I only have a Dunkin Donuts (DD) by my home, but have DD and Starbucks near my office, so I patronize both. I will happily drink DD, but it can't compare to (SB) in my mind. Completely different type of flavor and much less robust. Those in my office that don't like strong coffee, prefer DD. Those of us that live for our strong, intense coffee, all prefer SB. In the Rockefeller Center concourse, they are directly across each other and both always have lines, although SB's is usually a little longer. And, in NYC, DD is really not cheaper.

I'm with you, definitely Dunkin Donuts.

If you throw a rock in Mass, it will likely hit at DD. They are everywhere and always busy, and get my vote.

My mom and I did the 20 mile Walk for Hunger on year and decided to count the DD's on the way. . .we gave up around mile 15 or so when we hit 25!!!

It wouldn't surprise me that DD would be more popular than Starbucks anywhere in New England, but that's because DD is such a popular chain in that area in the first place.

Wouldn't it be possible that the DD line was longer, because they sell a lot more than just coffee? I mean, it has to take longer in DD's drive thru line, because invariably you're going to be in line with people ordering dozens of donuts as well as coffee, whereas most Starbucks, people are just there for a cup of coffee and on their way.

I hate DD coffee. To me it tastes watered down. Sometimes I will get a latte at Dunkin Donuts because there aren't any Starbucks close by but I hate going there because the employees are usually incompetent. Regardless of which DD I go to, I would say that about 75% of the time they mess up the order.

They're both terrible. You need a Second Cup or a Tim Hortons.

Most people going through the line were just receiving a coffee or one other item. The line moves very quickly. They seem to handle each customer as quickly as Starbucks, in fact, a bit faster. The window at Starbucks was available most of the time I was in the area. (5 minutes)

Dawn,
How funny that we both started threads about Starbuck's at the same time.

As you read on mine, I've never tried Starbuck's and I have never tried Dunkin either. The only Dunkin that I know of is way across town and there are a couple of Cafe du Monde's in between here and there. So I guess that's why I never made it to Dunkin. ;)

I didn't vote in the poll because none of the answers fit me.

It depends on what I'm drinking. If it's plain or flavored coffee then DD all the way. If I want a chai or a latte it's Starbucks for me.

I'weird, I like both. I do go to DD more, it's cheaper and closer to my house. I do love Tim Horton's coffee but it's not convenient but I'm not wild about the donuts there. I love DD donuts and I love Starbucks classic coffee cake.

I love DD lattes but don't get them because of the calories and cost. I did notice that they sell skinny lattes at DD now, I'll have to try one.

Starbucks, but I don't usually get regular coffee, I get a frappucino or a cappucino.

Whenever I go to DD, there are a LOT more people getting donuts rather than just coffee. And both the Starbucks near my home and the one near where I work are both always crowded.
