..and the dummy is me..

Been going through all the discussions on gratuities / tipping here and I still have a question.

I am clear about the amount now, my question is..the way to pay the amount. If I don't prepay, then I will be handed envelopes. Is there a option there to charge my tips to my card ? You can't catch me with cash on me even if my life depended on it, so lets forget that option. Would I be able to specify the amount and then ask them to charge it to my card ?

Yes you can put the tips gratuities on your room account by going to the Guest Relations desk. We pre-paid the standard amount by calling DCL, but I believe you can specify an amount for each tipped position.

Your tips for your servers/host can be charged to your room (which is basically to the credit card you put on file).

They will give you a sheet to help you determine what you want to pay (the sheet gives you the recommended amount) but you can fill in whatever amount you want for each of the four designated tipping jobs.

You take this sheet to the front desk where they will charge your account and provide you with receipts that can be placed in the envelopes which you then give to the servers/host. Most people give this either the last night or the last morning breakfast.

One thing is that I generally do not wait until the last day as it gets very busy. Also, I found that going to the service desk late evening (not sure of the last night) is usually quick. They tend to have only one or two people but I found very few people waiting.
