Dumb RollerCoaster Question -- Hulk and Dragons

On coasters like Dueling Dragons and Hulk, what happens when the park suddenly loses electricity? (We were there in July when USF suddenly lost electricity. It was off for a good long while. It made me think, what if we had been on Dueling Dragons? Would we hang upside down? Is there a mechanism that keeps the coaster going through the loop?)

(I know this is a silly question, but my son (age 10) wants to ride Hulk with his cousin (age 15). I worry about what might happen in an event like that should he be on a coaster without me. I'm a mom, you know. ;) )

I'm sure they have generators.....

The loops are gravity driven. If no electricity was available through generators, the coasters would be braked at a flat area of the coaster track.

Thanks for not making fun of me. I know that all coasters are basically gravity driven, and I know that gravity would keep the old coasters from stopping on the track, but the newer coasters just seem so much more complex with linear motion, etc. I didn't know for sure, is all.

Thanks!

Oh, trust me. I wouldn't think of making fun of you. I had to ask my son who works at one of the coasters at Universal. I didn't know either.

The only coaster where you could get stuck in an uncomfortable position is Mummy. At Hulk & Dragons, the train would probably stop at the final brake run (which is flat) if they couldn't be pulled into the station.

Even on the Mummy you won't be stopped while you are going down the "hill."

You could be stopped while going up the launch, or in the fire room.

Going up the launch wouldn't be a problem as you are in a reclining position so no dangling upside down. The brakes would come on if the power went off. But still no reason to worry as the Mummy has a generator.

The fire room is level and they turn off the fire if the ride goes down for any reason.

on mummy i would want to be stopped in the room where the ride "ends" and fire is on the ceiling because im sure there is some kind of exit there. i just got back to school and all i can think about is mummy! i just love that ride sooooooo much!!!
