Hey all,

Does anyone know if boxed Brownie mix goes bad? I was just about to run out and get some and I found some in my cabinets. Not sure how long it has been there, my guess is under a year. I looked everwhere on it for an expiration date but there was none to be found.

It looks and smells okay?

Do you think it's okay?

If there is a code on the box somewhere, you could call the manufacturer (there is usually an 800 number on the box somewhere) and they can check when they were made and if they are safe to eat. I would guess if you think they are under a year old, they are okay though.

I would use it. There usually is an expiration date, but under a year is most likely fine, IMO. (Can I have some brownies?)

I think you are ok! Try it and let me know!:teeth: ;)

In all seriousness, I really dont think those expire. So I think you are ok. What brand is it? I have about 10 boxes in my cabinet, if you tell me the brand I can look and see if there is an expiration on my boxes.

Thanks all.

:) Sure come on over! They should be yummy. Double chocolate fudge.... mmmmmmm

Gotta do something on these chilly June days.

(Yup, in MA it's chilly in June :( )

I grew up in New England, I remember those cool June days. Here in CA it's in the 80's. I'll have some ice cream with my brownie.

LOL! I have Betty Crocker, Pilsbury, Ghiradelli..ect. The one I dont have is Duncan Hines.

However, all of mine have dates and they are well over a year! I bought some of them at least three months ago and they all say May 2005. So you are fine!

Thanks all. Well, I just made up the brownie batter and it tasted fine to me. (And DBF just finished the batter...I swear, he is like a little kid...his favorite part of having brownies, cookies and cake is "licking the spoon" when I'm done with the batter. lol).

Now to wait for them to bake. Yummy.
