Dumb question alert! Do they provide the lanyard?

Do you ONLY get the DVC lanyard if you booked that cruise on points? We are DVC members but we are paying cash. Thanks

The DVC ones are nice ones - very soft fabric...I don't remember if there was 1 for EACH of us or just 2 tho. :confused3 We left them in our Owners Locker. :) The Castaway Cay ones for returning cruisers are a stiffer material.

I bought mine in the terminal while waiting to board. There was one choice and it was rather scratchy and uncomfortable. They have LOTS onboard that felt better than mine. I wish I had waited. I should be getting a new one in May though, cuz we are going on our second Disney cruise. YAY.

the gift shop in the terminal is no more - so stop by a disney store in the airport or the WDW/Downtown Disney if you want one before the shops open the first night.

Is it based on each individual being a returner or just on a per-cabin basis?

DW & I have been on DCL before but DD has not...

they used to give them to everyone in the cabin before the tier system started - now it is only the returning guests - I bring old ones with me to share those cruisers cruising with me if it is their first time so they do not have to buy one.

I find the ones they hand out are stiff and itchy. We never use ours. I bought some that are soft and about the size of a rounded shoe lace. Ahhhhhh, so much better. Got ours at Mardel's and are 1.00 each.

thanks for posting this question as we are first time cruisers. I guess I will have to hunt down the 2 lanyards we got at the Daytona 500 and will have to purchase another plain one at walmart or somewhere.

Correct....stateroom gift is based on the highest level CC member in the cabin.

Also, when rebooking onboard...it helps if you can split people into different cabins based on their level to get the most OBC allowed. We booked onboard for next year and I put me (platinum level) and one DD (gold level) in one cabin and hubby (platinum) and one DD (gold) in the other. This way both cabins get the $350 OBC instead of one getting the gold OBC and one getting the platinum OBC. The booking agent onboard recommended this.

MJ

that's good to know about the bookings. I'll keep that in mind. After my May cruise I am one away from Platinum. Too bad that don't count an 11 day as more than one cruise. If they did, I'd be at Platinum after my next cruise..pj:):)

For first-timers, if you bring a lanyard it does not have to have the pouch at the end. Gust Services will add a hole punch to your card if you ask and you can hang it on a keyring or metal clip on any lanyard. Works like a charm. You can also add a hole if you bring a hole punch from home. Just make sure you don't hole punch the magnetic strip (or RFID chip on Dream) or the end of the card that inserts into the door lock.

We've done this on other cruise lines for years. Actually, we prefer the clip and hole punch to the plastic pouches.
