(Dumb) Magical Express Question

Our flight arrives at MCO at 1:30p and we plan on meeting my parents (coming in on another flight) and grabbing a quick bite to eat before we board the bus.
My question is: should I go and check in at ME and then get something to eat? If we eat first and then check in, will they still pick up our bags and send them on their way even if we haven't checked in and told them how many bags we have?

By the way, are the ME bag tags coded in some way? Like do they have your name and resort info on them?

The DME tags do have your name and resort printed on them. There is also a bar code on them. I would eat before checking into the DME counter. The counter is far from any eating places. The two times we used DME we checked in and boarded the bus without waiting.
