We are booked in room 8528. Now this sounds dumb, but I hate surprises--does this sleep 5? I know I told them 5 when I booked, and they have 5 on the reservation, but stranger things have happened. Is there any way to know which sleep 5 and which sleep 4?

Robin, if you have five names on your reservation then your room will definitely sleep five. :) DCL can't book it any other way.

Enjoy! :)

All of the Category 4 cabins will sleep 5 people.

They have the twin / queen bed, the sofa that converts to a twin bed, a ceiling pull down berth that makes another twin bed, and they have a murphy bed that pulls down to make another twin bed.

The couch / twin bed and the ceiling berth convert into a bunk bed arrangement, with a removable ladder and railing for the upper berth.

The additional floor space in a Cat 4 is between the sofa and the outer wall, where the murphy bed is located.

hope that helps

We have booked Cat 4 twice now (for our family of 5)and both times the cabin slept 5.

I might have been wrong when I said they all sleep 5. I just checked the DCL Online Quote System and they have a pop-up screen that describes the Cat 4 cabin. It said that some cabins sleep 5.

I apologize for the wrong info and I'll do more searching for the answer.

Five of us just sailed in cabin 8526 (right next door to you), and it slept 5. I bet yours does, too...Disney will be sure you have a cabin for 5, since you have booked for 5 people.

Hi Rock'n Robin,

We stayed in cabin 8028 ( port side) and it should be the same as cabin 8528 and it had the five beds in it. I think it will be the same as we particulary asked for a cabin with the drop down bunk and we were offered either 8528 or opposite side 8028. We had cruised starboard once before and decided to do the port side.

MinivanMom,
I have a question for you...when you were in 8526 which way did the beds face. in other words when you lay on the beds were your feet pointed towards the bow or the aft ( front or back )?
We are booked in 8026 next year as we could not get 8028.
Thanks
Wenabre

We're going to be in cabin 8586 next April 26. I was led to believe that not all of the category 4 cabins will sleep 5. So, I specifically asked if this cabin would have the murphy bed because neither of my children want to sleep in the bed that pulls down from the ceiling. They checked for me and said that it would have the murphy bed. I'm assuming that if they all slept five that they would not have needed to check.

Has anyone stayed in this cabin? I'm hoping that it's nice and doesn't have any view or noise issues.

What is the difference between the murphy bed and a bed that pulls down from the ceiling? One of the kids will be in the 5th bed, are both types comfortable?

The Murphy bed pulls down the long way and blocks the verandah door while it's down. The ceiling pull-down berth pulls down the short way and does not block anything while it's down.

wenabre,

That's a good question! I had to think a moment, but our heads were forward, feet were aft. Same with the pull-down-from-the-wall murphy bed. The other two beds, of course, go starboard to port. Our 11-year old daughter really liked the one that comes down from the ceiling, and is like an upper bunk to the sofa below, which flips over to become a regular twin bed. That one was good for our 14-year-old son. Our 17-year-old son had the murphy single bed, which was a bit short for him. (He has a double at home, which I believe is longer than a standard twin.

As everyone says, when the murphy bed is down, you have no access to the veranda, and it is difficult to get in the clothes cabinet. The cabinet is nice and roomy, and was just right for our 3 kids' clothes, but it is difficult to open the 2 doors of the cabinet when the murphy bed is down. We would just push it back up to get pj's out, etc, then put the bed back down as the stateroom host had already done for us.

Hope that helps!

Cherie

Thanks MinivanMom,
We are on the waiting list for cabin 8028 for our cruise next April and I hope we can switch as I am not too keen on being 'backwards' with the beds. Thanks for answering.

By the way Tiggeriffic,
My 17 year old (then) DD slept on the bunk from the ceiling and she loved it! She never had bunk beds as a kid so she wanted to sleep up there, which I didn't mind as we could still use the couch to sit on! We are going to be on the same cruise as you are....are you up for a Dis meet?
