Duffy's girlfriend

My 4yo dd is in love with Duffy and now for Christmas she wants Duffy's girlfriend Shellie May. I however do not have $90 to buy one on ebay. Does anyone know of a way to get one for a reasonable price here in the US? I'm getting desperate.

I wish I could help! That is what I asked my DH for for Christmas this year and he forked over the money on ebay. Except I made him get the Shellie May with dress and necklace so it was $125 from japan lol. I searched and searched. Be really careful on ebay. There is a lady selling rip off Chinese ones. The one I bought is from a reputable Japanese seller, and it says Made in Vietnam. I wish I could tell you a place to buy them here in the states but I don't know of any! Good luck!

Eta: the lady selling the fake ones is in the US. The other sellers are mainly in Japan. I forget where, I want to say ohio.

I'm glad you posted this because I was looking on ebay and saw the ones from Ohio were a little cheaper. I didn't buy though because something about their faces didn't look quite right. They almost look a little crooked and their eyes are a different color. I don't know a lot about the bear though so I wouldn't have realized they were fakes I just didn't buy them because I thought they looked ugly. I'll keep looking but no 4yo needs a $90 bear.

SO SO funny you wrote that about their faces. Here's why. I really looked into this, and the Japanese seller I bought from specifically wrote that she goes and one by one looks at their faces and picks a cute one. I loved this, because I just got back from WDW (9/27-10/7) and I bought my first Duffy Bear and it took me awhile of going through them to find just the right face. SO when I saw the Ohio lady had them for a bit cheaper, and she had 3 for sale, I wrote her a PM to ask her about the different faces on the 3 she had. She wrote back something like, well they obviously all have the same face...I've never heard of different faces or anything.

Any collector, or any layman for that matter usually knows that they all have different faces. So yeah, I didn't buy from her. You're smart!

As a co-founder of a Duffy Bear rescue (...meaning my roommate and I have a serious amount of Duffy Bears..) we haven't found a cheaper-than-eBay way to obtain a Shellie May. Believe me, we've tried. I want a Shellie May SO BADLY. Hopefully Santa thinks I've been a good girl this year.

Lol, yes! The character Duffy Bear has a girlfriend names Shellie May Bear. She rocks! She is huge in Japan.

Right now Shellie May is only available in Japan. so there's noplace to get her in the US, other than from someone who brings her back from Japan.

I got my Shellie May when I was still living in Japan, I just wanted to point out that even in Japan she is pretty costly, I have 2 outfits for her too and those weren't cheap either. If you consider the EMS shipping cost and the time/effort spent to go to the park to get her, $90 isn't looking too bad.

My boss just got back from a business trip in Japan; he spent a day at Tokyo Disney Sea and brought back a Shellie Mae for me as a total surprise. She is pretty freaking cute! Had never seen one in person before.

www.micechat.com has a whole board devoted to Duffy and Shellie. They also do DuffyPost which may be an option for getting a Shellie for your DD, OP!
