Dude...

I keep saying it and I live in NY. I also can't stop saying, "like." It's almost as if I was 17 again. I will be 30 this weekend.....

Do you say anything really annoying and what do you do to stop it? (my dh is ready to duct tape my mouth shut)

I "dude" everybody, too. Even women. I also have another saying that I probably shouldn't say here...I'm not sure if it would be censored, but it may not be appropriate. I've never thought about stopping myself from saying these things...I often don't notice until after I've said it.

This weekend after I said "DUDE!" to DH for the 5th time in as many minutes I realized I had a problem.
Is there any kind of rehab out there for those of us addicted to the "dude" word?

I think the phrases I say most often is "oh my heck" and "just so you know". I think "just so you know" gets on Dh's nerves a bit, he said it seems like I have to justify everything. For example I will say, "I took $20 out the bank and bought Girl Scout cookies", "but the boys love them, just so you know".

I often use the word "Like" in conversations. But not anywhere near the Valley talk. I use it in the descriptive and/or comparative sense.

For some strange bizarre reason not known to me...I have started saying "coolness" instead of "cool."

A co-worker took me aside about a week ago and told me I needed to stop! I didn't realize it sounded THAT stupid! (she told me nicely but bluntly...she said something along the lines of, "Honey, you don't need to attempt slang. It's not happening for you." ) LOL. So I'm trying to quit - but I never realized how much I say it!

Maybe I should try to substitute DUDE and see what happens!

Maybe my co-worker could make a thread about me!

(speaking of which - where's the funny co-worker story du jour? I need that! LOL!)

Oh you're lucky...You are allowed to associate with the kids friends, everytime I speak ( as I am carting their little bums around town) I get the look.....I've once been told "Mom you're living from the dark ages, please no comments......JUST DRIVE!!!! I'm amazed at what comes out of their mouths sometimes!!!
