You will be grateful for some type of wide tape to fasten things, like the safe door, when the sea is jumpy, or a bungee cord to keep the bath door from flapping if you want it to stay open. If you are in a room with a curtain divider you might want to fasten it in appropriate places with the clothespins...or even use them to hang clothes from the line in the shower...

As for the windex wipes...new one on me...
:confused3

We ended up using Duct Tape to repair two duffel bags on our trip, actually before we even boarded the ship.
So we are officially adding Duct Tape and Fishing line to our packing lists (perfect for fixing large rips in luggage) ;) They made it all the way home without any problems!
We used one of my hair clips for the curtains.
But found Shout Wipes more helpful than Windex Wipes.

windex wipes are for balcony doors, the salt air gets them dirty very quickly.

Ahh, I don't do windows....prefer to leave verandah doors to those who can do them better....

Wished I had duct tape last cruise.

We were in rough water and the closet door kept sliding open and then shut, really hard to get to sleep that night.

Probably 3 or 4 yards of Duct tape is enough so you could wrap it around a pencil or something else so it wouldn't take up much room.

On our May 14 Cruise the closet doors had a strip of velcro on each of them to keep them in place. It held strong enough my 2 yr old couldn't open them himself, and he was determined to get those doors open.

Somewhere I saw they sell a flat duct tape, or pocket duct tape. No cardboard ring, just the tape folded on itself.

Frankly, we brought it all....and used NONE of it! Save the space and pack stuff you need....like more WINE!

Challada - Did you pack wine in your suitcase for your last trip? I've been hearing conflicting reports that you are allowed / you are not allowed. Or only allowed in your carry on. Thanks for any input. ~ Bethany

Yes, we packed wine, but used bubble wrap and specific packing boxes for the wine....no one took our wine away, so I am assuming that it is still allowed. :drinking1 My parents who were traveling w/us had an entire suitcase of just wine and no one seemed to mind!

We brought Windex wipes on our cruise and never used them. Maybe, if the seas had been rougher, the windows might have gotten dirtier. But, ours stayed clean enough for the entire cruise that we never used the wipes.

I also wished we had a bit of duct tape the last cruise. We had a box that we had packed up with the kids's booster seats. On the last night, we weren't able to seal it up very well. Some duct tape would have been nice. I love the idea of the flat or pocket duct tape or wrapping it around a pencil. I didn't bring ours because it was just so big.

The velcro on our closet doors worked well also and kept the doors from sliding back and forth. Once we didn't close the doors all of the way and I could see how that would drive you nuts while trying to sleep.

We brought wine in a carry-on on the Inaugural Mexico Cruise. We took about 5 bottles, wrapped in bubble wrap, and 6 cans of Ginger Ale on board in one of those soft-sided coolers on wheels. We had no problem at all. We did fall in love with that cooler though and plan to use it as carry-on for future trips. It rolls so easily. My 7 year old was able to be in charge of it with no trouble at all.

Chris, I love the picture of the Magic in Cabo with the kids at the beach. Mattie and Sammy loved it. I wish we had done the same as you in Cabo. The kids would have loved it.

Put some strips of duct tape on the outside of your luggage. It makes it easy to find in the sea of luggage at the airport and if you need any, just rip it off your bag. Worked for us!

Thanks Carrie! Em would have loved to have Mattie there to play with since she was with the bigger boys all day! Well, when we all cruise again on the next round of west coast cruises, we'll have to do that (2007?)!

Take care
Chris

we always take a few clothes pins to use for attaching swim suits to the clothesline above the tub. We can fit more on if we attach them neatly.

Never have seen the need for duct tape..never had a problem with doors banging. Our stateroom hose kept our patio doors very clean..and if he didn't I would ask him to clean them, not do it myself.

just keep in mind sticking duck tape on things that are not yours...like stateroom walls and doors should NOT be done...all that stick that gets left behind is bad for the walls and finishes. Duck tape is a good thing for repairing your luggage or a hem on a dress...even that much needed strapless wonder bra but there should be other measure for fixing that closet door that keeps going bump in the night...like a sock stuck in the track so it won't slam against the end....or even call GS and ask for ast in fixing the problem.

As for the windex....IMO I don't like doing windows and would rather call GS and have them send someone up to clean them if needed.

Clothes pins are great for holding the curtins closed or the room divider in place (we didn't have any on our trip...and didn't need any)...so it's not a must. But they would also be handy in the BR to hang items on the clothes line.

The clothespins came in very handy for us, keeping the curtains on the porthole window closed. My girls slept in later than I think they would have if there was light coming through. We also had them for the room divider curtain and swimsuits. We never did use the duct tape, but it was small enough that it didn't take up much room. Better to be safe than sorry :teeth:
