Day 1: The Drive Down and Arrival Day (May 9-10, 2007)

I guess I should reintroduce myself since it’s been a year since my last trip and a year since the last trip report. My name is Tasha. I am 26. My dh is Scott and he’s 28. My dd is Kylie and she just turned 2 on May 5. We decided to take my mom with us on this trip and she’s in her 40s. I suppose I must be kind and leave her exact age out of this as I know she will read this after I’m through! She didn't go with us last year. Scott and I took Kylie to WDW last year for her 1st b-day and that trip was just so magical. We couldn’t wait to go back. We didn’t really know what our plans were until around Jan. though. We had toyed with different ideas. I started going back to school in Aug. so by Jan. I was feeling I deserved a vacation and we set our sights back to WDW of course.

We stayed at Pop last year. It was okay, but I was wanting something different. So I did some research and I thought POFQ might be ideal. I decided to book through Dreams Unlimited this year. I had the best Travel Agent—Dan (SnackyStacky on the DIS, I think). He got us a discount but it wasn’t available at POFQ so we ended up deciding to stay at POR instead. Both looked very tempting as far as resorts go so no regrets there.

If you are interested in reading about last year’s trip, feel free. Here’s the link:

Pictures have since been removed but here are some from last year for those who are curious. I look at these pictures and I just can’t get over how much Kylie has changed in just a year!

Here is dh with Kylie after a long day:

Kylie at MK while we waited on dh to get off the Stitch ride. She hasn’t had the binky since she turned 15 months old either. Oh, how the time just flies!

Kylie by the pool at Pop. She couldn’t even walk yet. Boy, how that changed quickly!

Her first Minnie Mouse ears. Her name was stitched on the back.

Her favorite character was definitely Tigger. We ate lunch at the CP on her b-day last year and it was just incredible for her. Tigger really doted on her and she loved it. Here she is kissing his nose.

Like I said, those photos are not current. They are from LAST year. I promise you there will be plenty of photos from this year too! I finally got a digital camera which is my new best friend so I went nuts with photos this time. Even dh took a million...or so it seems.

Okay, the next post will be the start of this year's TR. Stay tuned...

ETA: Sorry the photos are so large. I must not have resized them. The current ones will not be so big, I promise!

Your DD is so cute! My DD is 14 months and we took her in Feb and had a blast! I agree with how fast they change, it goes quick! I can't wait to read your TR! I'm sure it will be great!!! :goodvibes

Still Day 1

We decided to leave around 5 the evening of May 9 and go pick up my mom. My mom lives nearly an hour away so the plan was to be at her house by 6 and on the road no later than 7. We planned to stop and eat dinner too. Well, the one thing that I can honestly say about this trip is that a lot of stuff did not go according to plan from the very beginning. Thankfully we are all kind of “go with the flow” type people so it all worked out in the end.

We were running a few minutes late so I called my mom from my cell phone and let her know. We arrive and she says we can’t leave yet because my stepdad had gone to visit his mom (who is in her mid 90s) at the nursing home and he wanted to say goodbye to us before we left. She told him to be back by 6 and he said he would be but he didn’t arrive home until 6:30. Then my mother and I had to get directions to my aunt’s house because we were planning to spend a day with our family in New Port Richey, FL, while we are down there and my mom couldn't find what she did with the directions she already had. That killed another 15 min. Then, my brothers (23 and 17) had to say goodbye and spend a few min. with Kylie. They both adore Kylie, especially the 23 year old.

We decided to eat at a local Mexican restaurant that my mom had raved about. She decided it would be fun to take my stepdad with us to eat before we hit the road. We also asked my brothers but they are homebodies so that wasn't happening. Right as we are getting ready to leave, my stepdad gets a call and that killed another 15 min. I think it was 7:30 before we finally went to eat.

We did enjoy a wonderful meal though. It was sooo good! Even Kylie, who is extremely picky, ate quite a bit of her chicken fingers. After dinner, my stepdad went his separate way and we headed to Wal-Mart for ice for the cooler, a few snacks, and gas. I'd say that we were on the road by 9 p.m. but that was including dinner so we were probably about an hour behind the original schedule. That was okay though. We still arrived too early, truth be told.

Last year Kylie slept the entire way there. She had done the same in Feb. when my mom, stepdad, Kylie, and I went to visit my grandmother. So we thought it would go exactly the same. WRONG! She slept maybe 4 hours total. She was in such a happy mood though so it was okay. My mom slept more than Kylie actually. ;)

The drive down was pretty uneventful. Just basic stuff such as getting gas, drinks, and potty breaks. The most eventful part was when we got on the FL Turnpike. I'm sure some of you are aware of the horrible drought in FL right now. My cousin (who lives there) said there were 228 fires going while we were there. The weatherman said it would take a good 18 inches of rain to put those out. It wasn't looking too promising while we were there.

Anyway, we got stuck in traffic and smoke on the turnpike. The fire was actually from the day before but the smoke was still there of course. The traffic did go rather quickly, much to our surprise, and we only waited maybe 15 min. and we were off again.

We arrived around 11 a.m. and dh was so tired. He was an absolute grouch that first day. Last year, he did so well but this year the drive really kicked his butt apparently. We went to check in at POR. We wanted building 14 but there was nothing available. So I asked for a room in building 16. He was able to get me one but said it wasn't ready yet.

So we ate at the food court and then took the boat to DTD. We did a little shopping. Kylie was so funny. She would pick up every toy she saw, look at it for a moment, and then put it back. She did not really want anything until she saw the little Mermaid doll in the infants' section at World of Disney. She grabbed it, hugged it, and said, "MINE!" with a grin. So it became hers. She's usually so good; who could resist? My mom bought her a coloring book and a little Mermaid toy cell phone. She loved that phone and used it the entire trip. Dh bought a cap and we shopped a while.

By 1 p.m. dh had had enough. He called to see if our room was ready. We have always gotten a room early in the past. Unfortunately, it wasn't going to be that way this time. The lady told him not to call back till 3. So we shopped some more. At 3, he called back again and the guy he spoke with told him the room would definitely be ready at 4. So at 3:30 we take the boat back to our resort. He calls back at 4 and our room still isn't ready! She said it was not guaranteed until 5 p.m. Dh hangs up and is really irritated.

I took the phone and called back. The lady told me the same thing. I told her that we were told our room would be ready at 4 and we had been on the road overnight and had not slept in almost 2 days. I asked her if there was a way to get a room that was ready. She told me to go inquire about that at check in, so I did. I got the same guy that checked us in. He was shocked that there still was no room available. I told him at this point I would take whatever they had, no matter what building it was, and would just like to be moved into building 14 or 16 the next day if possible. He was very nice. He called and talked to the lady and, lo and behold, suddenly 5 min. later there is a room ready for us in building 16! Thank GOD! I couldn't handle dh for one second longer if he didn't get a nap soon. He was sooo grumpy and tired! We had dinner reservations at 'Ohana at 6:45 so we all wanted to change and clean up some.

I thanked the guy at check in and told him it was just that we were so tired from the long drive. He understood. We were in room 1634 in building 16 of the Alligator Bayou section. It was the ideal location and I loved it. The only problem was it was upstairs and we had requested downstairs since there was no elevator. By then, I did not want to deal with waiting on yet another room so we just dealt with it. It bugged dh more than me anyway.

I must tell you that our first glimpse of POR took our breath away. It was so beautiful. I loved being on the river. I really liked the look of the entire resort. Dh was so ticked about having to wait for a room that he kept saying he wished we would have stayed at Pop. Honestly, he deflated my happiness a bit that first day. I tried so hard to plan this perfect vacation and he was really a pill. I knew he was tired so I let it go hoping that was all it was.

We got into our room and my mom and I told dh to sleep so he would feel better. We decided we'd drive to 'Ohana instead of taking a bus so that he would be able to rest longer. It did him a little good but not enough. Kylie did not sleep. She was too excited to explore her surroundings.

Well, we drove to 'Ohana and Kylie fell asleep in the car. We transferred her to her stroller and she never woke up. I asked the lady that we checked in with if we could bring her stroller in the restaurant if Kylie was still sleeping. She said sure. We also told her we needed a highchair just in case she woke up. Again, no problem. Kylie did not wake up when we were led to our table either. It looked like she might sleep through dinner. Nope! I really, really wish she had.

She woke up and I asked her if she wanted to eat or go back to sleep. She said she wanted to eat and she seemed fine. So far, so good. Yeah, famous last words and all that. She sat down and started eating turkey or chicken or something, I can't remember exactly. She seemed fine. I ordered another Island Sunset (or whatever the drink was I ordered and loved last year). Dh was driving so he didn't drink. Nor did my mother. Bunch of lightweights, I tell you! ;) Anyway, all seemed okay at first and then suddenly Kylie went balistic. She became one of *THOSE* children...you know the type that make you cringe and run in fear. That was my precious little angel. She started screaming, yelling, kicking, and just flat out turned into a nightmare. It was awful. We were getting looks. Two waiters tried to distract her but it didn't work.

Finally, dh had to get her and take her out of there. She was just that bad. He didn't mind. He was already still a little grumpy and he doesn't really like food at 'Ohana. He's not normal, what can I say? I love 'Ohana and my mom did too! After that, the waiter kept flirting with me. It was amusing but I suspect he felt sorry for me after seeing this nightmare child I was raising and he was taking pity on me. I bet he would never believe that she is usually an angel in public and that she was just overtired that night.

The food was as good as I had remembered but the meal wasn't as great because it was hard for me to enjoy it with half my family missing. They also sat us on the opposite side of the restaurant from where we were at last year. Last year we were smack-dab in the middle of all the kid activity. This year we weren't. If we had been it might have distracted Kylie. Then again, maybe not. We'll never know now. The bad part is that was just a preview of meals to come with my precious little angel. :( They weren't all bad though or I would have torn my hair out!

After dinner, we found Kylie and dh and we walked around the resort. Kylie was happy as could be. You'd never even suspect she had a meltdown shortly before that. She loved the beach and the sand and the ducks. Some things never change. The girl has been obsessed with ducks since she was a baby.

We then drove back to our resort and decided we would sleep in the next day and then do Epcot.

great trippie! I'll be taking an 11 month old this year so i'm goingg to read your other report as well!

Hi,
I used to see you post over on the CB. Anyway, thanks for sharing your TR with us again.

I stayed at POR this past April and when I called at 10:50 a.m. to see if I had to check out at the front desk, I was told, "no, you are good to leave, no checking out".

It was about 10 minutes later and Yuanita our cleaning lady was at our door ready to clean it out. I was glad I got to meet her, since she did a great job with our room each day and left me a 2 towel animals. I big rabbit and a little rabbit for Easter. What building where you in. I get confused with the number thing. We were in the Mansions, Perrott mansion.

Great start Tasha! I'm already seeing lots of similarities- I guess we can feel better knowing we're not the only ones right? And I guess I can take it as a good thing we didn't meet you the day you arrived ;) I can't wait to read the rest, I'm missing WDW more reading your report than I am writing mine. Must be the "grass is always greener" syndrome, huh?

ETA- We've been dying to stay at POR but usually opt for the value resorts when we don't rent points- I think you just pushed us over the edge to try it next time!

What building where you in. I get confused with the number thing. We were in the Mansions, Perrott mansion.

We were in building 16 of the Alligator Bayou section. It was a wonderful location. Very pretty and tranquil and not far from anything really. Other than being upstairs with no elevator (which wasn't as bad to me as it was to dh), there are no complaints. I would not hesitate to stay at POR or POFQ again. LOVED it!

Michelle~ Yeah, I remember telling my mom, "Thank God we decided to meet Michelle and her family on Saturday instead of today!" Scott was a grump that day. The man needs more breaks and naps than Kylie does sometimes, but I love him anyway! ;) He's so quiet before he gets to know someone that I bet you almost forgot he was there when we saw you anyway though.

It looks like I will be working at the same snail's pace as last year on the TR but it will get completed (same as last year). Kylie is sitting on my lap so I can't work on it much right now. We have to eat dinner still too. I will try to work on it as much as I can this week. Bare with me, just as I know some of you patiently did last year. :)

Great report so far--can't wait to hear more!

Hi Tasha! I've been watching for your trip report!

We ate at Kona Cafe that same night you guys ate at Ohana's! We sat pretty close to that main walkway area and so I kept my eyes open for you! I probably saw Scott and just didn't pay close enough attention. We were dining with my 18 month old niece and she was a real gem that night...she and Kylie may have been separated at birth...lol! My BIL and I took turns walking around with Ella so that she wouldn't throw a temper tantrum and bother other people...as soon as dinner was over, my sister and I ran like mad for the Adventurer's Club at Pleasure Island!! ;)

Can't wait to read the rest of your report!!

Great report so far, Tasha! We'll be taking Katrina when she is just a couple of weeks shy of 2. I'm interested in reading about what Kylie liked and didn't like this time.

Don't feel too bad Tasha- at least you finished yours last year :rolleyes1 Ya think anyone is still holding out hope that I'll finish mine? :headache:

Glad to see you are back and can't wait to read more. I love it so far... I have dealt with quite a few of the meltdowns w/ my 3yo DD too....

Day 2 (May 11, 2007)

Have I ever mentioned that my dh snores? Have I mentioned that my mother snores too? Well, they do. They snore a lot and often. Have I mentioned that one of my greatest pet peeves in the world is snoring. It irritates me to no end. I know they can’t help it but I can’t help wanting to beat them both with a water bottle when they do it either. I am used to dh’s snoring, though that doesn’t really make it any more bearable for me. I also have taken trips with my mother and know she snores too. She loves to deny this of course. My brother backs me up 100%. And now dh does as well after this trip. Thing is, I thought dh was loud when he snores. My mother easily put him to shame!

The good news is that I knew to expect a double dose of torture…uh, I mean snoring…so I actually bought earplugs! I truly did and I think that was the smartest decision I made this year! My mother was the first one to fall asleep the first night we were there and I swear she was sawing down some pretty big oak trees in her sleep or something. She was obnoxiously loud. Dh was giggling at her. He has a warped sense of humor and found her snoring hilarious. He giggled all the way to the table where my earplugs were and handed them to me. “Here,” he said, “I KNOW you will want these pretty soon.” Aw, the earplugs. Such sweet QUIET bliss! All was right with the world. I need to write a letter to the manufacturer of those earplugs. They deserve some recognition for saving my sanity during our trip!

I was finally going to be able to get some much needed rest now…until I felt a foot in my face several times that night. My mom took one bed, my dh took the trundle bed (his choice), and Kylie and I shared the other bed. Man, oh man, I love that little girl. Anyone that knows me IRL or just online can vouch for that. However, that kid is a mover and quite the wiggly little thing. Thank God for the bed rails we had delivered to our room. She would end up on top of me, with her feet in my face, you name it. It’s funny how a little 23 lb, 33 inch, 2 year old who is only in the 10th percentile for weight and 30th for height can manage to take up an entire full sized bed! That was why dh declined to sleep in the same bed with us. He knew better. It wasn’t too bad though. I’d take that over snoring any night!

Okay, now that you have an idea of how sleeping was with our little family I can begin the next true installment of my TR. I thought this might be worth mentioning now though so that further parts of my trip report would make more sense. Actually, come to think of it, I am pretty sure my mom asked me to keep the snoring issue out of this TR. But then, she also asked me to keep her picture off here too and I don’t plan to do that either. She should know me better by now. Oh, well. My theory is if I am brave enough to post my scary pictures of myself then everyone else has to pay that price too. I am only putting the ones I think are decent of her in this report anyway. She will say none of them are decent but she’s wrong. She looks just fine IMO. Does anyone ever really think they look good in pictures anyway? I don’t think many of us do.

Sorry for the rambling. Here I go typing at night again…the time when I ramble the most! Okay, onto day 2.

We all slept till at least 9:30. Please forgive me. I didn’t right down any details from this trip. Last year I took notes. This year I’m going on memory so some things may not be completely accurate. We will get through this together though. I can make up enough details to make you think I have a good memory anyway, right?

So anyway, everyone woke up somewhere around 9:30 and I mentioned having lunch at Sunshine Seasons food court at Epcot. I distinctly remember my mom looking at me like I had 2 heads and saying, “It’s not lunch time!” I said, “By the time we are all ready, catch a bus, and arrive at Epcot, it will be!” Sure enough, it was well after 11 when we got to Epcot.

First thing we did was go to Character Connection. Kylie LOVED the characters last year. I was praying for a similar reaction this time as well. The characters were not yet in there when we arrived. They arrived shortly after and Kylie grew so excited. I just knew she would still love them. She did…from afar. Up close? Not so much. They made her nervous. She was so funny. She would squeal in delight when she saw them. But if they got too close she would say, “NO!” and whimper. I was praying this would change during the trip. You will have to wait for further installments to see if it did or not of course. I like to have cliffhangers in May too! Makes me feel important. (*Note to self: quit typing TR late at night; you get ridiculously goofy! Sorry everyone!*)

Anyway, this is the best I could get out of her at Character Connection this year. We got a picture with a few other characters too but this was probably the most decent shot (of me, that is!)

MamaKylieandPluto.jpg

After Character Connection, we went to Sunshine Seasons for lunch. We all ordered lunch and I bought sushi (California rolls) much to my dh’s and my mom’s disgust. They are not as adventuresome as I am when it comes to eating. I thought it was pretty good.

Anyway, last year I tried so hard to get dh to try Soarin’. I knew he would love it but he is such a chicken about rides he isn’t sure about or has never ridden before. He always thinks I am going to trick him onto something he will hate. I have actually never done that before, and never would, but he has that fear in his head anyway. Perhaps we have a trust issue here? He wouldn’t budge last year, especially since he would have had to ride alone since someone had to watch Kylie. This year I finally convinced him to ride with me while my mom watched Kylie. So after we finished lunch we grabbed a couple of fastpasses for Soarin’. Then we rode The Land. I LOVE this ride. Kylie was especially fascinated by it this year and I had a proud mama moment. I’m weird like that.

After The Land ride we saw The Lion Kind movie thing. Can’t remember the name of it right now. Kylie loves animals so it was perfect for her. Last year she yelled at the screen the whole time. This year she growled at it like a lion. She thinks she’s so clever. And she is a lot of times.

After the Lion King we headed to The Living Seas. What did they rename that anyway? The Seas with Nemo or something like that? Anyway, we rode the cute little clam ride. They loaded someone in a wheelchair on it which was actually great because they made the ride go at a slower pace because of that. Kylie loved, loved, loved this ride. She and I rode in one clam and she kept talking to all of the sea creatures, telling them “hi” and “bye” and dancing and singing along and things like that. My mom and Scott rode in the clam to the left of us. Scott was really jealous that he didn’t ride with Kylie.

Kylie enjoyed seeing all of the fish and we got into the aquarium section just in time to see the dolphin show with the trainer. Kylie loved that but I suspect Scott liked it more. He’s fascinated with dolphins. Kylie loved the giant sea turtle. I was proud again since I also love turtles.

After exploring the sea life, we headed to Turtle Talk with Crush. Last year Crush talked to Kylie and it was one of the highlights of our trip so my mom really wanted to see it since she had never seen it before. So we headed in and I had the bright idea that Kylie would want to sit in the floor with the other kids. I thought dh and my mom would follow but they went and sat on a seat instead. Kylie did not want to sit in the floor. She kept looking for “Dada” and “Nana”. It wasn’t until a baby sat with her mother that Kylie sat too. She is fascinated with babies too. I was disappointed because Kylie did not care at all about the show this year. She was more into the children and adults sitting around her instead. It was interesting to see one of the boys Crush talked to was also from Mississippi though.

About midway through the show a woman sitting near us caught Kylie’s eye. She looked at the woman and smiled and the woman smiled back. All of a sudden Kylie raises her hand and slaps this poor woman’s arm HARD! I'm pretty sure she left a red mark on this woman's arm. I was shocked and embarrassed. I apologized profusely and the woman was really nice thankfully. She said it was okay. I will never forget the look of shock in that poor woman’s eyes though. Kylie did get an earful but I think she basically ignored me at that point. Too much to see and I wasn’t that interesting apparently. Two year olds…sigh. I really still don't know what got into her at that moment. That was extremely out of character for her. I've never seen her do that before.

After Turtle Talk I asked Kylie if she wanted to ride the clam ride again and she excitedly declared, “RIDE! RIDE!” Dh was thrilled because he would get to ride with her this time. The 3 of us rode in one clam, my mom in another. Unfortunately, Kylie fell asleep in line and slept through the entire thing. Poor dh did not get to witness her reaction to this ride yet again!

After that we decided we would head back to the room until our reservation at CR. Right as we were nearing Spaceship Earth I stopped and said, “OH!” “What?!” exclaimed my mom and my dh. I had completely forgotten about our fp time for Soarin’. It was almost time so it looked like we wouldn’t be heading back to the room afterall. We decided to ride Spaceship Earth. Kylie slept through it till the very end, which was fine by us. We weren’t really wanting to experience a tired Kylie and another ‘Ohana experience at dinner that night thankyouverymuch!

After Spaceship Earth we headed back to Soarin’. My mom said she would take Kylie and change her diaper, let her watch the Lion King again, and then maybe get her a drink or snack or something. So dh and I went on Soarin’. He of course loved it, as I knew he would. After that, we found my mom and Kylie. Kylie had seen a boy with chips and that’s all she could talk about so my mom bought her a little bag. Dh and I sat with Kylie while my mom went to the bathroom.

DaddyandKylieatEpcot.jpg

Then my mom joined us for a minute.

NanaatEpcot.jpg

Wonder how much trouble I am going to be in for posting that?

We decided since it was too late to head back to the room and too early for our dinner reservation that we would try the clam ride again. This time we let Kylie and Scott ride alone together. Dh is kind of a big baby when it comes to wanting bonding time with his little girl. It’s sweet and endearing though. Kylie loved it as much as before according to dh. He was beaming at how he got to ride alone with her and witness her reaction and antics on the ride. He’s weird too sometimes.

We decided to go to Mexico and ride the boat ride. I’m glad we did. Kylie loves Donald Duck and she enjoyed the ride since it now has Donald Duck in it. I think the rehab was a nice improvement. I’ve always enjoyed that ride though.

After Mexico, we headed to the BabyCare Center to change Kylie. We decided to take a break and let her play in the little toy room too. It was nice to just relax for a few minutes.

KylieatBabyCareCenteratEpcot2.jpg

KylieatBabyCareCenteratEpcot.jpg

Okay, so dh was tired by this point too.

DaddyatBabyCareCenteratEpcot.jpg

He hates that picture btw. Wonder how much trouble that one is going to cost me?

In the middle of playing in the toy room I smelled something. I’ll be darned if she didn’t need to be changed again! At least she did it before dinner anyway. She is thoughtful and considerate sometimes. Famous last words again…

The one thing I love about this age is what a neat freak my child is. She always picks up after herself and she sings, "Clean up, clean up!" while doing so. It's so cute. I wish I had half that enthusiasm about cleaning but I don't. Anyway, after she was done with her toys she put them all back all nice and perfect, exactly as she found them. I didn't even have to tell her. She's kind of OCD about how things should be a certain way sometimes, actually.

After changing her we headed to our reservation at Coral Reef. We enjoyed the topiaries at Epcot but we took so many pictures of it last year that we didn’t take many this year. I think this is the only one we did take this time. Of course it had to be Donald Duck, especially for Kylie.

DaddyandKylieinfrontofDonaldandPlut.jpg

The hostess at the Coral Reef kept referring to Kylie as “little Tash”. We found it a bit odd. My dad and sisters and a few friends call me Tash. I don't mind at all. It's a nickname. We were just surprised that this woman had shortened my name without knowing me and whether I would appreciate that or not. We later learned that all of our dining reservations were under Tash instead of Tasha. That explained that.

Anyway, Kylie’s b-day was May 5 and, trust me, she got plenty of stuff. However, my mom wanted to do something special at WDW too. So we had our TA let them know we’d be celebrating her b-day at the CR. We got an excellent view of the tank, down on the floor near it. I love the atmosphere there and it was especially great for Kylie. It was for dh too. He spent most of dinner trying to get a picture of a shark. He never got a good one unfortunately. We were still learning the ins and outs of the new camera so this is the only decent pic we got of the aquarium.

fishatCoralReef.jpg

When the waitress brought our menus, she brought 2 kids ones for Kylie. One that Kylie could color on and one as a b-day momento. I thought it was pretty cool. It was a menu/b-day card.

Kylies2ndB-daycardfromtheCoralReef.jpg

Dinner was very good. There were a few setbacks though. My mom ordered her steak well done and it was pretty pink. She sent it back. After that, she was satisfied. No harm done. Then, Kylie kept guzzling chocolate milk. I just figured she was really thirsty from the long day we’d had. I really didn’t think much of it. I should have known better. Pretty much as soon as we were done eating she threw up all over the table! At least she waited till we were done eating. The poor table next to us had just been seated however. Oh, how badly we felt for them. I’m so sorry if you are reading this by any chance. It was embarrassing. I tried to hide it quickly. To make matters worse, I had forgotten a change of clothing for her. The only thing I had was a bathing suit. So that’s what I ended up changing her into right there at the table. I was thankful I had brought that. She was fine after that. She apparently just drank too much, too fast.

As far as the food there, it was pretty pricey. My mom and I had the crab soup as our appetizer. Dh had the land and sea. We all had the New York Strip steak for the entrée and the chocolate wave cake for dessert. I ordered Kylie the pizza on the kids’ menu but she really didn’t eat. Too busy drinking and getting ready to throw up and all. Our dinner cost $210! Thank goodness for the dining plan there!

The steak was pretty good. The dessert however, well, none of us liked it. It gets rave reviews on the DIS all the time but we didn’t get the appeal. Maybe we are just strange? Wait, don’t answer that!

After dinner, we decided to watch Illuminations. We discovered then that Kylie is terrified of loud fireworks. I wasn’t really all that surprised. She’s a wimp these days with certain noises. She and I ended up inside a gift shop until they were over. She was still a little nervous afterwards and kept saying, “Fire?” “Hurt?” But then something wonderful happened to her. This little guy appeared. Yes, her obsession was here and all was well again.

Oh, and here’s a disheveled looking Kylie in her bathing suit that evening. Not the greatest picture but I had to share the bathing suit. She's staring at "her" duck in this pic btw.

After that, dh and I decided we wanted to go on Test Track together. It was EMH that night so we got our bracelets. Kylie fell asleep in the stroller. My mom sat with her while we got in line to ride Test Track. Dh was nervous of this ride too. I knew it would be fine but I had never actually ridden it before so of course he didn’t trust my judgment. We got in line behind 2 chatty, cute teenage girls. They were, like, sooo sweet but they, like, talked like this, like, the whole time. They were really nice though and we enjoyed the conversation. They reassured dh that he would be okay and I think it did help ease his mind a little.

We got in a car with another family. The dad sat up front with dh and me. He had already ridden too. Dh asked him if it was scary. Well, this guy proceeds to tell us he had just done the Petty driving experience that day and had gone up to 122 mph doing that so of course Test Track was nothing to him. Test Track really wasn’t scary and dh ended up loving it too. I enjoyed it a lot as well. I am glad we finally got to experience it. It was nice riding it together too. My mom was a great help on this trip.

After that it was getting late and we grabbed a bus back to the resort. Kylie went straight to sleep, taking the entire bed as usual. And my mom started sawing logs, or whatever the heck she does in her sleep, almost right away. Ah, my crazy family and WDW. Such a great and crazy combination. Life was good.

Don't feel too bad Tasha- at least you finished yours last year :rolleyes1 Ya think anyone is still holding out hope that I'll finish mine? :headache:
What, you mean you don't plan to finish last year's?! And to think, I've been checking every single day to see if you have! :sad2: J/K of course! ;)

You know Tasha, you better watch what you say or someone could accuse you of being a smart*** ;)

Your sleeping description cracked me up, DH "saws trees" too and I frequently have feet in my face, or little bodies laying on my head at night. I love reading your posts at night, it reminds me of the things my BFF and I used to do/say when we were overtired in high school. Ok, we still do it :rolleyes1 I'm loving your report, thanks for keeping me awake at 2:46am!

BTW- I am so not weird, and don't believe anything she may say about my precious children!
