When you are that close in line, you shouldn't go AFK. As a courtesy to other players, you should either exit the line or just wait to do whatever you need to do. What you SHOULD NOT DO is complain to the host when she was just trying to run her game.

When I was in the game using my husband's character, there were so many rude people. I'm supposing that most of them were kids based off of their names, alpha this, ace this, pretty this. I felt so bad for Lori. Here she was hosting a FREE game and giving prizes and people were being so rude.

Disniplaya, Maliboomer, or whoever... maybe you could do a game room etiquette thread on the kids' board. I don't think that it was DIS kids this time but that way the DIS kids could be sure that they were being good DIS representatives.

As someone else who has been running a game lately, I have to say I understand what Lori is saying. Booting people (especially my friends or DIS people) is something I hate having to do, but sometimes we have to. When someone is afk and there are a dozen people in line behind them, what can we do? It's really not fair to the other people in the games to make them wait.

When I have to boot someone (and I'm sure that Briar does this too), I always call the player by name, saying, "BriarLori, please enter the room." "BriarLori, are you there." "BriarLori, this is your last chance before I will have to boot you." "Sorry, BriarLori." So I give people ample chance to wake up before I boot them.

Just remember that when you are booted from the room when you are AFK it's not because the host doesn't want you there or is being mean. It's because you can't play at the moment when your turn comes up, and it's not fair to the other players or game runner to make them wait for you.

You are always welcome to come back to play the game! (I had to boot one DISer twice last night--I don't think she ever got to play the game).

Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed seeing BoogiesFan in the room, and I
was glad my game was just about to be closed for the night when it started
going super sssssssslllllllllllloooooooooowwwwww. Wow, that was freaky.

And Dizzy, thanks for the moral support. I don't know what your DH title
is in the game, but it's cool that you were able to observe the horrid
treatment I had from the kids. It's amazing how they treated me when
they lost. I never saw so many poor sports in my life.

Will I run this game again? Yes. I'm thinking I should I open it today, but
I'm not sure when will be a good time.

Boogiesfan was being a little fiesty last night. I mean, she kept on talking about how much cuter Jellyrolls is than Briar. And then she fell out of the river and couldn't find herself (turns out she was hiding behind a tree). I don't even think Briar noticed that Boogiesfan was missing. Then Boogiesfan lost on purpose so that people who were really excited about the game would have a chance to win it (not that I wasn't excited about the game, but I had already won it once, so I figured I'd help fill the room but let others win).

Upon losing your game, dear, all I could think to say before leaving via the teleporter was "oh stink." Thus, 'twas said.

Upon further reflection, what I meant to say was "oh, what a great game, such that when one loses, one cannot help but still feel great appreciation to the game designer. These are the times that try our virtual souls and the goodness that such games encourage and the greatness they inspire are a blessing to the entire VMK community.
