DTD to AK - early AM

we have a res for breakfast in AK at 8 and the buses from our hotel in DTD don't start running until that time, so we need to find another way to get there ... i'm thinking the easiest and fastest way would be by cab, but i was wondering if there were other options ... also, how early do we have to leave the hotel (how long does it take to get to AK from DTD and how long is the walk when we get to the park to donald's breakfastosaurus)? ...

ETA: we're gonna have to call for a cab, right? ... do any of them ever just wait outside the hotel for pick ups? ...

If you take anything other than a Disney bus to the Animal Kingdom to eat at Donald's before opening you have a great chance of being late. For some reason only Disney buses are allowed into the parking area early. Everyone else (even those with dining reservations) are held back. This happened to us a couple of years ago and I have read more recent posts that this is still happening. Since you can't take a Disney bus from your resort maybe you can get over to Saratoga Springs and that a Disney bus from there. Disney runs early buses to take guests to the breakfasts all around WDW that are scheduled before park openings.

SSR is near DTD? ... can we walk there? ... i'm not familiar with the locations of the DVC properties ...

I am staying at CBR in OCT and will have a car. We have Donald's BK for 8:05AM, so I'll need to take the bus??? If the park opens at 8, I would think they would let you in to park at least by 7:30am right??? Or do they wait till 8???

SSR is across from DTD. I don't know how close it is to the DTD hotels.

I thought the buses are for guest staying at a Disney Resort (i.e. Saratoga Springs) not the DTD hotels????

Actually anyone with a vaild WDW theme park ticket can use all of the WDW transportation.

if anyone is interested, here's what we did:

we took car service to AK from DTD (cost about $15) and the driver dropped us off at the parking toll area ... we had to walk from there to the gates, but it wasn't long, less than 10 minutes, and we had no trouble getting in on time for our reservation ...

The AK parking lot opens 30-35 minutes before the official gate opening. Even if there is EMH and gates opens at 8AM, the parking lot will not open until 8:25-8:30 because (as the toll plaza CM told me) "early entry is for resort guests and only people staying off site come by car".

Another option is to take a taxi to AKL and then take the bus to AK. It is a fixed route bus (goes back and forth between AK and AKL) so the bus comes every 10 minutes or so. Much fast than walking to SS and waiting for that bus.
