Pin Traders is a store across the street from the Hilton. In addition to buying pins, there is a bunch of high tables where other pin collectors can trade pins. This can be daunting for new collectors and traders, so I'd be careful. If the trade doesn't sound right to you, don't do it!!! There are some pin traders who are always trying to take advantage of new collectors.
In addition, there is a pin trading book at World of Disney in DTD and the pin carts at most DISNEY (i.e. not Hilton) hotels. There are pin carts to buy pins alll over WDW, especially in the parks. There are also pin books sprinkled about (e.g. Pin Cart at Island Mercantile in DAK, Expo Hall in MK, etc.)
Cast Members have lanyards for trading with guests. So long as your pin has a Disney copyright on the back and they don't have one of the exact same pin on their lanyard (the thing you wear around your neck), they HAVE to trade with you. This is how you obtain lanyard pins (pins they don't sell but you have to trade to get).
I would suggest when you are in the Magic Kingdom go to the Scoop 1 o'clock pin talk in Expo Hall at the front of Main St. (to the right as you come under the WDW RR.)
If you are adventurous, there are also Pin Trading Nights at the Disney Hotels. Thursday is at the All Sports Cafeteria, Friday nights on the fourth floor of the Contemporary where they sell pins. (treat these opportunities just like DTD Pin Traders)
Another suggestion, there are over 40,000 pins now listed in pinpics. Select a theme and collect them; otherwise you'll join the rest of us who deserve to be institutionalized. (There is no 7 step program.....and we don't want one!)
JUST REMEMBER THE IDEA IS TO HAVE FUN !!!!
