I read some where that the Lego Store was closed for renovation. Can anyone confirm this. I'll have to prep my son - he has been determined to go there ever since Santa brought all the wrong Bionicles at Christmas.

Be warned though, the tent has a very limited selection! :( We told our girls to wait till we got there to get LEGOS, thought they'd have awesome sets where you could build Disney stuff, you know. Boy were we disappointed when we went in the tent. Sign on the wall said that they are renovating the store, don't know how long the tent has been up, maybe they're almost finished.

Does anyone know how much longer the renovations will last??? My DS (4.75) is a Lego nut.... it's his favourite thing and the playzone would end up being one of his favorite parts of WDW. :sad1:

I hope it's open before we leave, my kids are looking forward to going, I did'nt even know it was closed.

Bumping this up because I had planned to go by there in April and would like to know when it might open again

I'm so afraid that despite all my planning; this will be the disaster of our trip. My 4yo daughter even has a burger king coupon for a Dora Lego set that she keeps saying she will use in Disney. I might have to make a run to Toys R us beforehand just so she doesn't have a meltdown in DTD (my son at least would keep a stiff upper lip).

We'll be there in about 10 days :cheer2: I'll give an update when I get back.

Like you, I already told my son to wait till we got to DTD for Legos. He wants one Bionicle, that is out of stock, so I thought, wow, a Lego store, no worries. Two days ago, told him that it was closed, but had a tent. He made me promise that since the store is closed, that if I win the Lottery while we're down there, I would buy him the millenium falcon and some other one, both of which cost $100. each. He doesn't understand the odds of winning the Lottery, then again, he's only 7.

Its amazing what we worry about for these kids.

I feel so bad because about a month before Christmas, we were at Toys R us and he asked if he bought a present for his sister, could he spend some of his own money on something for himself. Little did I know he had squirreled away $80 dollars, picked out a $3 book for his sister and grabbed sevendifferent bionicles. I let him keep two but when Santa checked his stock a week later - they were all gone.

I just can't win!

:rotfl2: Smart kid-he'll be a good negotiator when he grows up.

Yes the tent is very small, no more selection than at your local toys'r us. My DS was so disappointed.

We always get a picture of us with the Lego snoring man on the bench. This last Nov. before the store was closed for renovations, the man was gone. I hope they put him back after they are finished..smjj

This is horrible. My son (age 6) will be so disappointed. He has a lot of birthday money saved up to spend at the store!! I wonder when it's reopening?? We'll be there until 2/22.

We always go in Feb, and always encounter renovations, but that's fine with me because it's never hot or crowded. But this year there seem to be a lot of things closed. With SAB partially closed, small world, the land, that thing in front of the castle, and now the lego store, I think it might bother me a little on this trip.

I'm going to try and find a number for the lego store and call.

I have been reading on the board here about other Orlando attractions, and they say there is a Super Target near WDW. There is supposed to be a large Disney selection, maybe there are a lot of Legos, too. If you have a car, it might be worth the trip. I guess there is a Super WalMart nearby, too. I'm a Target fan.

I'm afraid to tell my sister this news. She and her husband are bringing their kids to WDW for the first time when we go in March. They are 3 and 5. Not only is It's a Small World closed, but so is The Land attractions, and now this! DTD was going to be where they went on their first day (arriving in the p.m. by plane) when I told them how neat the Lego place and all the "statues" are. They were going to ferry from OKW, where they are staying. Are ANY of the Lego statues there? This is so disappointing. (IASM is really the most disappointing)

The creations up close to the building are gone. The snoring man, the flying saucer, etc. The dragon in the water is still there.

I did think of a couple of good things about the Lego Store being closed---- won't have to drag my son out of there, and won't spend as much money, which gives ME more money to spend on the trolls in Norway!!!!! LOL

Great. You just made me realize that I am going to have to play a game of "Drag the Kid" trying to get out of the store. I hadnt thought of that.

There are actually a few other Lego Imagination Centers in the US, and several Lego stores. If you go to Lego.com and check the store locator, you can see if any of them are near where you are. I know there are Imagination Centers at DL and at Mall of America (the Imagination Centers are the stores with the large play areas attached.)

**UPDATE**

You probably all know already but I just came across this thread and thought I would post an update. The Lego Imagination Centre reopened in a mid-March.
