DTD Courtyard

Let me go back a little. You said you had to "knock down" your AC system. I presume you are saying that the AC temperature was too low and you had to set the thermostat to a higher level? In our rooms, we set the thermostats to 85 F and yet the rooms were still like meat lockers! In other words, the thermostats did nothing. We had to turn off the AC units in both rooms. Do you know what a "swamp cooler" is and how it works? I suspect that the CbM has a similar system. This hotel used to be a Howard Johnson before Marriott bought the complex.

Do you understand my theory?

That's RIGHT! I forgot about that! It was so nice to be able to take a nice long drink of water at the CbMDDwithout realizing halfway through how BAD the water tasted (like at MOST places in Orlando) !!! Another check in the "plus" column for the CbM. :)

Gee, now the pluses are adding up and overpowering the negs LOL. Our themostate worked fine. We had a rollaway right under it for several days, so we successfully turned up the temp and made the room less cold at night.

JMHO....

I stayed there in 2001 with the $25/nite rate. And personally was VERY pleased. We all thought (party of 3) that we were getting a great deal for the money. I don't recall anyone saying anything about a smell - and we were fortunate enough to get a view of DTD with a balcony. All & all I think, what can you expect for $25/nite AND you're on property! I think it's a fine deal, and would definately jump on the chance again.

I even remember standing on the balcony one nite with another in my party looking out, and us thinking how lucky we were to be there...... :)

I didn't get everynight for that price. Only two of my 7 nights. Perhaps if I had only paid $20.03, I would have expected a $20.03 hotel. I was expecting it to be as nice as every other Marriot that I paid a lot more for but at a bargain rate. It wasn't IMO, but is as nice as some other inexpensive hotels.
As chance would have it, we were asked ot take a survey on the hotel today. We gave them the good and the bad.

Where did you get the survey DM? I tried to send them our comments through the e-mail addie given at "Contact Us" from their website and it was bounced back to me. :(

It came in my email. We are rewards members, so they knew we just had a stay.

DH is a Rewards member too, DM. I usually just hand him his mail without really looking at it. Maybe we missed a survey if we got one. :(

Came in my email..not my regular mail. I bet they never send me another one LOL!

We filled out a comment card before we left with my email address. I was contacted today by Marriott via email for additional comments.

DMRick or SonicLogic,

Would it be possible for you to share the CbM's e-mail address so that I may try to resend my e-mail? If you don't want to post it on the boards, you may send it to me by PM or e-mail.

THANKS! :)

It was a survery..it doesn't show up in my out email..sorry : (

That is the address that I tried from the website and for some reason it was sent back to me both from my wdwinfo account and from regular "home" e-mail address.

I will try again. Perhaps they did not like what I had written. ;)

Gosh SonicLogic, I sure don't know why the heck this e-mail will not go through. :( I had already registered at the CbM Site (hate to miss out on a fantastic deal! ;) )

Here is what I get in my returned e-mail:

Each of the following recipients was rejected by a remote mail server.
The reasons given by the server are included to help you determine why
each recipient was rejected.

Recipient: <stay@courtyardorlando.com>
Reason: 5.7.1 This system is not configured to relay mail from (my e-mail addie) to <stay@courtyardorlando.com> for 206.46.170.106

Does anyone know when this promotional rate is offered? Does it start in September or earlier? I'm wanting to know for future trips.
Any info would help, thanks!!

This year I learned about the discounted rates here on the DIS in May. They ran from the second week of August until October, and I guess are now offered thru December. The $20.03 rate was good Sun -- Thursday, and some AAA discounts were available on the weekends. DU also had some $39 rates. With the $20.03 rate, you needed to call the hotel directly, and the stay was prepaid (110.70 with tax in my case for 5 nights).

DH and I have stayed at the CBM two years with this special. We could not get either a king bed or a DTD view either year. Last year we were in the wing overlooking the pool (my favorite), and this year in room 901 (no smell) overlooking the highway (DH's favorite to watch the thunderstorm cells move thru).

For us, as frequent WDW visitors, this makes our anniversary trip possible. We'll stay on property in October, and in December we're renting a villa due to large family gathering. I really like the CBM for pleasant staff, good bus transportation, large clean room, and the managers reception. We'll probably be there again next August!!

I made our reservations in early April. At that time, we had already been hearing about the $20.03 rate here on this board for at least a couple of weeks. If you are really interested in it, I would begin checking in March at the latest. :)

I know that this has been asked quite a few times, but can someone give me the phone number to call. THanks
