DSL/wireless router question

I know nothing about them so I figure I'd ask here. My sister recently got AT&T DSL. Her daughter (my niece) lives in the house next door to her. Can my sis use a wireless router on her DSL for her daughter to be able to use the DSL too??? Or do the wireless routers only work with broadband internet?

DSL service does support routers. I don't know why they wouldn't work for AT&T's specific offering. However, not that, generally, services provided are provided in accordance with specific terms and conditions, which typically preclude use of the service by folks outside the household the service is being provided for.

Chances are even if you can get DSL wireless the signal wouldn't be consistently strong. I live in a townhouse and all the neighbors (including the ones attached to us) show up as "wireles networks available". However, the signal strength is usually only 1 bar (2 at most) out of 5.

We have DSL at work and home. It is AT&T or SBC, who knows these days. Both use a Modem/Router all in one combo. Both have ports on the back for wires as well wireless access.

You can put the router near a window that is near the other house if you want to share the signal. You can even have it encrypted so other neighbors can not glom on to your signal and use your bandwidth as well as see what is on your computer.

(Glom is a technical term, hehehehehee)

Yeah but niece could get herself a booster antenna.

However - Mikeeeeeee is right, next to a window will do just fine.
