DSL - Figured that This Might Be the BEST Board To Ask

If you are not able to get DSL through a particular Internet Provider (which DOES offer DSL - but just not on my phone) does that mean that NO company can offer DSL over my phone line?

I hope that that makes sense. I am trying to look at all of my options for high speed internet access and am about ready to sign up with cable. But I understand that DSL is probably the BEST option. So I started looking for providers of DSL. Verizon HAS DSL service - but not on my phone line. So, does that mean that NO one can get me DSL over my phone line?

I had to ask my dh about this, Beth. He thinks that another company might be able to provide DSL service if they install a new phone line.

On the other hand, for the average user, cable should be an acceptable alternative. DSL may be a bit faster and more reliable, but cable is still awesome compared to a dialup.
We have cable and it's great.

JC can probably provide more information on Monday.

Thanks Lisa! I am ready to go with cable, but I just wanted to make sure! PLUS DSL seems to be about $10 more per month. It is hard enough to think about the $20 additional that I will be paying for cable.

If it is the quality of line and not the distance from the telco., they could put in a new line but it's $$$$$.
