DS has request this for his bday and hubby told me he picked it up for him the other day.

SO what games would you suggest... my mom and other family members are asking what to get DS so figured he will need some games. LOL

DS will be 11 anything you can suggest.. any "learning" type games LOL A mom can hope!

Also what type of case will the DSI fit into thinking that will be what the other ds will get his brother (courtesy of us of course LOL) any other need to have assosories in order to get started? Memory card? how large do you suggest?

thanks all!

My kids love the Pokemon games, I like Brainage ;)

The DSI is the same size as the DS, I dont know the exact dimmensions but any case that says it will hold a DS will work. I would buy the screen protectors that you can put on them to keep from getting scratched ~$10. A charger for in the car is nice, but not necessary. A memory card is not needed, not sure they even sell them for DS.

My almost 11 year old DD loves Phineas & Ferb, Lego Star Wars, Club Penguin, and several Pokeman games. She has BrainAge too, but I play it more than she does.

My DD12 was really into the Guitar Hero for DS for a while, now the DS is sitting, she goes through these periods. Another one that they like (on Wii) is Mario Kart. THe Nintendogs are good too

My DD (almost 11) has had a DS for a couple of years and recently got the DSi (I couldn't see why she needed it, but...it's what she wanted, and she saved up for it.) Anyway, it is AWESOME!! It's so much more fun than the DS and I can't believe I'm saying this - lol.

She has had a blast taking pictures and morphing them, and it will also take video that you can edit. It's also like a little laptop, in that it is WiFi enabled. Yesterday was my older DD's ballet recital. We let little one bring her DS to play since we had to be there for so long before it started. (of course she put it away during the recital, and she had the sound off when she was playing beforehand). Anyway, she was able to surf the net as well as play her games. She likes SpongeBob and Mario Brothers games, and she loves Nintendogs. I'm not sure how educational they are, but at least the Nintendogs one teaches you how to take care of a dog. Although she likes walking her virtual dogs much more than walking our real ones :lmao: We have Brainage too, but like MomofKatie, I play it more than she does. lol

You don't need a memory card for it. It fits in any DS case, or you might get a skin instead.

Thanks all... sounds like these are right up ds's alley!! I cant wait to play it.. I MEAN FOR HIM.. ya thats what I means LMAO

i suggest a ds lite. simply because it also plays gameboy advance games.

But if he doesn't already have the gameboy games, I think the DSi is immensly cooler, with the camera, camcorder, and internet access. It's been so nice for her to be able to get on the internet when we are out. I don't carry the laptop around with us usually, but I can check my email on her DSi :thumbsup2

DD *does* have a few gameboy games, and also the problem of losing her progress on all the games she's been playing on her DS, so she didn't want to do the thing where you can trade it your DS and get $70 off a DSi. So she has both. Which seems ridiculously excessive on the one hand, but on the other hand, it's not like DH and I don't have electronic toys (I have three camcorders, and want another one :rolleyes1 not to mention that I want a netbook, as the laptop is too big to carry around all the time) so, since she saved for it, and that's what she wanted, we let her get it.

However, I can't see any advantage of getting a DS lite now, although I'm not sure what games are available for gameboy that aren't available for DS.

However, if I understand the OP correctly, they have already bought the DSi and just need suggestions for games.

Mario Kart & Super Mario Bros.

My kids also have Nintendogs (dd), Scooby Doo (ds), Perfection & 3 other 'board games' (ds), Yoshi's Island (dd) and mabye one or 2 other games.

But they LOVE Mario Kart as does DH.

Just be aware that the DSi is a little bit longer than the DS lite so it will fit in any case that has a bit of room but it won't fit in any case that fits the DS lite snugly or snaps on to it, like the nerf case.

My ds loves the Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars. He also loves anything Mario.

Guitar Hero for the DS needs the port for the GBA games in order to play. Dd traded in her DS Lite for the Dsi and didn't want to give up her guitar hero game. She had the option of trading in the game with the DSlite to get more money or she could trade it with my ds for his old gameboy. She decided to trade with her bro so she could still play the guitar hero on his ds and (reluctently) let him use her DSi if he wanted

Oh good to know you need something else for GH. I would have really been mad to get it and try to play and it not work correctly.. I mean when DS played ya him LOL
