What can be wrong. I cleaned the siver coil thing in the back and got out clogged lint and got lint out of hole in wall the coil goes in. Why does it not get hot? its lightly warm barley can tell. What will it cost to fix?

sounds like an element...........is that what they call it- the heating coil thing...

maybe 50 bucks?

The most common cause is that one of the fuses is flipped. The dryer uses two fuses, one affects heat, one spinning. If it is still spinning, check the fuses.

When this happened to our dryer it was the heating element. I think it was around $50 to replace and it ran for a few more years so it was worth it. Just replaced it after 13 years when it died completely recently. That was the only time I had it fixed. Now the washer is leaking.

I'd also check the fuses. If you had a clogged vent, it's a good chance your dryer was overheating and the fuse blew (or the heating element failed) to protect your dryer from starting on fire. You should check the vents once a year to make sure they are clear.

The dryer is only 2 years old so I don't think I should have to buy a new one. My fuses have there 2 switches together so one and not the other will ever flip off but it was checked. I really hate murphys law. I have so much I have to get now that I can not afford another thing going bad. Is it hard to fix yourself?

What, you don't want a visit with the Maytag man? :confused3
Is it covered under warranty still?

We had a simlar problem with a brand new dryer - it wouldn't heat! Turned out to be an electrical problem with the fuse. I didn't think a fuse could cause such a problem, but sure enough, that's what it was! Good luck!

I did not buy the dryer. The dryer was bought new for me the week before I moved in and no warrenty was purchased nor sent in.

Try flipping the switch to the off position and then back on.

The same thing happened with my dryer and it was a fuse. I had the applicance repair people come out - the fuse was cheap, the labor was about $50 to put it in.
