Drydock reposition gone wrong (NCL)

Wow. I guess they got the message. Still not ok (realize that some people are older and won't be able to travel again) but a much better response than 25% off a 2019 cruise.

The video I saw with the guy wiping the dust from the bar would be enough to ruin a cruise for me. I’m allergic to dust. I would be miserable with that much work going on. I’m glad those people are getting another cruise!

I have been worried about ending up on a DCL cruise right before or after a drydock. As far as I can tell, you don’t really know when you book the day cruises are released.

Unless it is going to happen the week after a block of dates release, I think it's pretty easy to tell on Disney as there would be a gap in the schedule and other than DVC cruises, they don't do as many full charters as other lines do. With other lines a gap in the schedule could be a dry dock or could be a charter. I think there are places to find out the anticipated schedule (at least years) for dry-docks...not 100% though.

Wow glad NCL is compensating their guests with a 100% free cruise but elderly guests may not be able to cash in on a future cruise for health reasons. It would be nice if they offered a refund or a future cruise for free to travelers but I assume this is more economical to NCL than to refund fares. They will still make money on the boat from the casino, booze, excursions, etc. Hopefully everyone on that ship will be notified by their travel agents or by other means and cash in on this opportunity to prove a point to cruise lines that construction being done while guests are onboard is not acceptable.
Notifying guests before the PIF date of construction taking place while on board or a dining room being closed (DCL) so cruisers have the option to cancel should be a common courtesy of the cruising industry.

Just saw this over on Cruise Critic - quote from NCL:

"At Norwegian Cruise Line, the travel experience, safety and satisfaction of our guests is of the utmost importance to us. Recently Norwegian Sun underwent enhancements as part of our continuous efforts to ensure that every ship across the fleet delivers a consistently high-quality passenger experience. While we do our utmost to minimize any impact to our guests when these enhancements are being implemented, we do recognize that during a recent sailing, we did not meet the expectations of our guests, nor our own standards, for which we truly apologize. Norwegian Cruise Line is inviting the guests on the March 16th Norwegian Sun voyage to cruise again and fully experience all that Norwegian has to offer with a 100% future cruise credit of their fare paid, which can be applied towards another cruise of their choice from now through March 31, 2023. We realize that this gesture cannot replace their recent experience but do hope to have the opportunity to welcome them on board again soon."

That would be good enough for me.

That would be good enough for me.

i don't think it would be for us. My husband and I both have asthma, plus fumes tend to give me migraines. As others have said, vacation time is limited and precious (my husband only gets 12 days a year). After that sort of cruise I wouldn't want to sail with them again - so the money towards a future cruise would be useless. I wonder if anyone tried to open a claim with their travel insurance..? :scratchin
