it is a local Hampton inn. we have pool party's at during the winter and I was talking with one of the workers, and she was telling me how she sends money back home too her husband and kids and she told me she was paid under the table. how they get away with it is crazy.
I want to make sure I'm understanding your point of view here.
You want to drug test people on welfare, because they are cheaters and drug addicts.
No one should shop in pjs or buy more than one basket of groceries at a time, lest they be labeled as using food stamps; also no nice cars for transportation.
Your brother runs a program for a section of New York, wherein people on food stamps/welfare get their college classes paid for, transportation to and from said classes and child care is covered; and you feel that it should be a nationwide program.
(You still haven't answered who pays for those classes/transportation/daycare yet)
People on food stamps have to make two orders for food where you are (which is not the way it is done across most of the US nowadays).
You believe that people who don't speak English aren't here legally, and get paid under the table, on the word of one person who may or may not have been telling the truth. Also, that people get away with paying people under the table in a business that is a nationwide chain.
BTW, that nationwide hotel chain would have kittens if it was reported. I don't buy that one.
I worked at fast casual food company, and when stores in one area got caught with people with bad papers, everyone in the company had to resubmit their paperwork to HR for verification.

I don't know how he is getting away with it but it had been happening since it opened in 2006But he still has to follow laws. And he can't pay a large number of workers under the table. He'd be in major trouble with the US Government.
So I make a six figure salary, pay a lot of taxes and fail a drug test. Now I'm on food stamps...
Should I keep my job? Man, addiction is tough to beat.
go look up the programs for new York state welfare. they have lots of programs to get people back on their feet. we even have programs that will help people buy their first home with help from the state it's called rupco.Again, I just don't believe this. If the state is paying for it, then they are getting that money from somewhere, and it just doesn't make sense that's available upstate but not downstate.
When they test is it only for "illicit" drugs or prescription drugs? And then how do they handle it if someone tests positive, but they're on Rx meds for something like cancer? Do these people then get cut off? Just wondering how this all works?
The people that I have seen that use SNAP where I live, are not carrying around iPhones or driving fancy cars. I live in a very rural area, lots of farmland, lower wage average area, but our gas prices are always one of the higher avg, and food prices are not low here, either.
It might have been better to ve (researched) all potential scenarios and questions before posting a topic "heard on e radio" brieflygood question
you can just tell by what is in the cart and by the way they act
It's only "easy" when the other customers aren't tending to their own groceries. Many supermarkets have a small monitor screen on a pole indicating the amount spent. For food stamp customers it might say something like "EBT total, $56.23, cash due $6.87" It's for the immediate customer's eyes, but it's easy for those behind them or in the next line to see it too.
Again, the two carts of food is a dead giveaway and the shopping in pj bottoms in the middle of the day is the other
May I ask how 6ou, or any outside observer, tell the difference? Neither group wears labels.I was not talking about people taking care od foster kids I was talking about people that use drugs and don't want to work.
Not if you're paying attention to your own shopping. It's not that hard really. Food stamps which isn't really food stamps, but a debit card basically, only pays for food, so the items that are not food, come up at the end as a balance due so the customer has to pay cash or cc or write a check, etc. for the balance. If you are just standing behind them unloading your own groceries, you can certainly see/hear what's being said.
Yes, I do think drug testing should be mandatory for welfare recipients.
They're not food stamps. It's now a debit card-like card, as has been described many times in this thread.you do have to make towo orders since stamps to not cover none food items. so you got that wrong
Yet again, not if you're minding your own business.yes this is true after the food is taken off you are given a new total and they tell you how much you have left on your card. if you stand behind a person on stamps you can see it on the computer
Where the heck do you get these so-called statistics?%90 of them don't even work so no they don't pay taxes.
