For our first night I dropped The Wave and got Kona. I have never been to either but I want that Kona coffee! We will ride the monorail over to the Contemp. after dinner to see their tree!

Good decision?

Kona is by far my favorite meal on Disney property! I love their tuna oscar and the sticky wings too!

I say it's a great choice!

The wave is good, but we love Kona so much better! I think you made an excellent choice! Enjoy! The Steak is superb!! :thumbsup2

The Contemporary does very little, IMHO, in terms of holiday decorations. The only resort on the monorail loop I would go out of my way to see would be the Grand Floridian. Not only is the tree in the lobby atrium impressive, they have a life-sized gingerbread "house" that doubles as a store to buy gingerbread and other holiday goodies.

Kona Cafe is a restaurant I like. If they still make the pomegranate BBQ pork chop or teriyaki glazed steak...I'd want to get either of those again.

We enjoyed BOTH back in June of 2011 so I think you can't go wrong either way. Kona has been a longtime favorite, but our meal at the Wave in June was pretty good. Bonus points for the Wave since they seated us, a party of TEN people as a walkup (no reservation) on a Friday evening in June! :)

I would keep the Wave and drop Kona...if you want the coffee go for breakfast instead. Kona breakfast is so much better than Kona dinner

The Wave has very good press pot coffee as well.

And while I enjoy Kona a lot, the atmosphere at the Wave is so much better since it's not open to the noisy lobby like Kona.

Great decision. The pineapple bread and the sushi bar's offerings make dinner the best meal and the Kona Café. The press pot coffee can be a great pick-me-up if you've had a long arrival day too.

I should have mentioned that my son and I are gluten free. I can not eat breakfast at Kona because it would KILL me to sit and watch Dh eat the Tonga Toast. So dinner is a better option. I have also heard really good things about the gluten free offerings at Kona. I am excited. I LOVE the Poly!

But Ds loves the Contemporary so we will go over there to watch the trains come in and out.

Kona is our favourite restaurant on Disney property and in our opinion the Wave was just okay. Plus the Poly is a beautiful resort to visit.

Yes, Kona can be a bit noisy being open to the lobby but they do have some tables which are more out of the way and you can request one.

Good plan. Kona is a favorite. Ive had a few bad experiences at the wave - service can be very slow and the food is just ok. Enjoy the kona.
