Hi Vetern DIS members . . .

I'm attempting to price out the cost of renting a car from Budget and dropping it off at the ship terminal. What is the name of the drop off location on the Budget listing? Cape Canaveral turns out to be in Cocoa Beach.

We're trying to figure out with our extended stay if it would be more reasonable to rent a car or to take a limo from airport to hotel and hotel to ship and back plus taxis if we want to get around Orlando. We're only at SeaWorld for 2 days before our journey on the seas.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

I booked a car rental online for our cruise on 4/9/05. It seemed more economical to rent than get transfers. Even the towncar transfers cost around 150 or so for 4 of us. With the car we are paying 94.21 for 2 one way car rentals. One from MCO to Cape Canaveral and vice versa.

In regards to the closest location, Cape Canaveral is the closest. I hear they also have a free shuttle from there to the cruise port and back when the cruise is done. If not, you can take a cab and it costs around 8 to 10 dollars.

I recommend checking out mousesavers.com for their list of codes to get a discount on your car rental. I know they saved me a lot on my car rental. Here is a link to their code website.

Have fun and good luck

To answer your question, the location in Cape Canaveral is the closest drop-off location. It is about .2 miles from Budget to Port Canaveral and my understanding is that they have a courtsey shuttle.

We have booked with Budget for our cruise in September. Not sure of what your rate was, but I got a code off of Wal-Mart.com and was able to save about $15 total for both rentals. There are no restrictions with the code, so hopefully it'll save you some money.

Budget discount code: W810011

Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

This is good info. Thanks for it! :flower:

And by the way, where did you get your Mickey bouncer? Too cute!

We have used Budget several times for one way rentals when we cruise...also have used Avis a few times. I check both sites and see which one comes in cheaper with the codes I have found at www.mousesavers.com at the time we want to cruise.

Just recently I saved a bunch using the Shaw's supermarket code that I found for Budget at mousesavers. It yielded the best discount at the Budget site when I plugged in the code. Shaw's is a New England supermarket chain but you do not have to live in New England to have a card....I am in NY and as long as you live in the U.S. you can order a card at the Shaw's website The card came in the mail in 3 days.

Thanks All for your help. I think the late night guy at Budget was delirious or asleep . ..LOL. He said there was no shuttle. I'll try again while the sun is shining and see if that works better. I think it will be cheaper and more convenient to have a car. Only challenge is that dh doesn't handle traffic well. He can drive well in it; it just doesn't make for a "happy" trip.

I'll get back to you on what I discover today!

Thanks again!

The drive from port to airport/wdw and vice versa is very easy....we have done it several times and never really experienced much traffic at all....except the time there was an accident...then everything was at a standstill!!! But, luckily that does not happen often.

The drive from WDW or the airport to the port is pretty easy. The only really annoying part is the tolls - bring LOTS of change! You feel like you have just gone through a toll and, wow - there's another one!

Did you check www.dcltribute.com? I think Dave has a list of the dropoff codes out there on his site for various rental agencies.

Good luck!
