Droid or I-Phone?? Need help.

I'll make it simple for you. There are no Verizon Android devices that support Skype video currently. For Skype video on Android you need a forward facing camera and Android 2.3. While many devices will receive upgrades soon to satisfy those requirements, currently the only Android devices that will work are:

Samsung Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro.

None of those are on Verizon.

The Thunderbolt will be Skype video chat enabled very shortly, so that is the only device I could safely say you could buy and be able to Skype video chat. Several others you probably will be able to, but I can't say when you can reasonably expect to receive the update to enable this.

As Skype video on the phone seemed to be a big seller for you, getting the unlimited data plan is essential. You would easily go over the 2GB base plan doing video skype just a few times a month along with the other smartphone activities. You could do Skype over wifi with no issue, but it seemed like mobile Skype was key to you. You need to see if the iPhone on Verizon allows for Skype video over 3G. (I think it does) You should also set reasonable expectations for how the video will look over seas. It won't be like watching a youtube video.

I have never used it myself but I'm pretty sure the Verizon iPhone can do Skype video chats. It has the front camera and the iPhone Skype app says you can do video chats.

I had a droid, but was offered an early upgrade from Verizon so I got the IPhone, which I love.

I was not so happy with my droid, Apple products are very user friendly. Even retrieving a voicemail is much easier on the iphone.

I was not so happy with my droid, Apple products are very user friendly. Even retrieving a voicemail is much easier on the iphone.

I was caught off guard the first time I tried to check my voicemail. I kept pushing the voicemail button expecting it to call the system like all my other phones do. Once I figured out how it works I was amazed by it and wonder why other phone companuies don't impliment the same concept (I'm assuming Apple has a copyright on or something).

I've had both... Droid X and iPhone 4.

I LOVE the iPhone 4... the Droid was decent, but I never really liked it as much as the AT&T iPhone I had. The Verizon network however is so much better in my area. When iPhone came to Verizon, bought one and sold the Droid and have not regretted it for one second.

I have never had any issues getting my voicemail with my Droid....it's a simple process, just drop down the notification menu, hit the VM line and it calls, all I have to do is enter my password......if I need to call I just short cut it, super easy, no issues at all.

No Apple doesn't have a copyright, you just didn't push the Visual Voicemail button. It isn't turned on by default, some cell providers charge extra. But if you want the iPhone like way of visual seeing your voicemail, Android can do it.

I think that is the real reason some people love their iPhone so much, it can't do half the things an Android phone can, but the things it can do are obvious and easy to access. Android does so much more, but nobody is devoting resources to make ads telling you what it can do. The original Droid sort of went that route, and it sold like crazy. It is like Microsoft Office, before they switched to their new ribbon style interface the 10 most requested new features were features they already had. Nobody knew how to get to them.
