Driving to WDW and using their transportation

We drive our SUV from Illinois (we pack a lot so it comes in handy) and use it most of the time at WDW. There are a few time we will use the bus from our hotel, but mostly when we go to the Magic Kingdom. I like not having to wait for a bus. I know it does take a while sometimes to take the tram to the parking lot, but for the most part I think its faster to drive our own car.

We drove for the first time in many years this last January. We used Disney transportation to the parks, but for dinners at the resorts, if we went back to the room first, we drove over (I think the Poly and the Contmporary were the ones) and we drove to DTD. We are directionally challenged, and I don't like to use the extra gas, but to go from resort-park-hotel is just way too time consuming, and we've never had good luck with the busses to/from DTD. Also, we stayed at CBR and were WAY too far away from the food court, so some mornings, we'd drive over there, get sodas and a snack for breakfast, then catch the park bus there.

We drive from Ohio and we do the same thing too, it's nice to get there and not worry about having to drive any where.
Now there has been a few times we did have to go to Wal-Mart to get a few small items we forgot to pack or if the children are tired, we will go to the Disney outlets for one after noon.

We drive approximately 28 hours and then park our SUV for the rest of the week. We love it!:thumbsup2

We've done both. Personally, I enjoy being in control of when I leave and when I get somewhere. I absolutely detest the buses when you leave a park at the end of the night as well. So crowded and you're waiting forever for a bus. I also dread the occasional negative reactions from guests and bus drivers when you have a wheelchair bound person in your party.

The only time we touch our car after arrival is if we need to go off-site for something (pharmacy, Krispy Kreme, Walmart, Target, etc.). We actually enjoy the buses - I don't have to worry about directions, getting lost, getting in an accident, finding the car at the end of the day, etc.

In the summer my family and I drive from Toronto - WDW, however we still use our own car when going to Downtown Disney, going shopping offsite and going to some offsite restaurants. Although we do use WDW transportation when going to Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. Since we always stay at the Contemporary we can use the walkway or Resort Monorail when going to the Magic Kingdom.

CR Resort Fan 4 Life...Didn't I read some place on dis that you recently stayed at Poly??? ;)
