Driving to Port Canaveral question.

We are driving to Port Canaveral on Sunday, but our kids don't know we're going on a cruise. They think we're heading to the airport to head home.

I want to capture on video the moment when we see the ship and I tell them we're cruising with Mickey instead of going home.

Are there any landmarks I could look out for just before we get to that point so I can prepare? We're coming from universal, and Google maps has told me to take highway 401 and then on to Poseidon avenue, so I guess that's the way we'll plan to go.

Thanks for any help.

What are your routes before Hwy 401? If you are coming in from Hwy 528, right before you start to cross the banana river bridge you should be ready to start filming.

What a great idea to surprise them!

1. Look at this map for the route (but you may want to bypass the airport using backroads - down 91 to 417 or similar - or your kids will notice you missed the airport despite all the signs)!

2. Then look for exit 52 on the right (Banana River Drive) on 528 and a cruise parking lot on the left. You can just see the mouse funnels from about the exit before you drive onto the bridge, look to the left forward) then the ship comes into full view as you drive over the bridge! Note - do not take the exit - it is just a landmark.

Thank you!!! I'm so excited to surprise them. They constantly talk about wanting to be back on the Magic, and think our next cruise is January on the Wonder. My daughter keeps asking if we can go back on the Magic straight after the Wonder, so she's going to be thrilled.

My 3yo won't notice the airport signs, and I'm sure I can convince my 7yo if she does that we need to go to a different airport - benefits of not being from here, we'll just tell her that American cities have more than one airport. Lol.

Thanks again.

To be fair, Orlando does have 2 airports, MCO which is what most people use, but also Sanford.
