Since airfare is SO high I have opted to drive to Nashville for a tradeshow this weekend.....it is a 8 hour drive and I am not looking forward to the drive at all.
The good thing (I hope) is I am meeting a guy there that I have met online, he is from Kentucky.

Wish me luck in my weekend adventures :)

Ugghhh...I feel for you. I hate, hate, hate driving long trips. And a long trip to me is anything more than about 3 hours. If God had meant us to drive that far he wouldn't have given us trailers with wings :rotfl2: . Did I mention that I seriously hate to drive?

Is your show at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center? My company did the Emergency Nurses Association show last month and the space is great! We stayed at the Airport Marriott...5 minute drive from the convention center. Also, if you like BBQ, you have to try Jack's Bar-B-Que on Broadway right in downtown Nashville. Really honkytonk and awesome...best BBQ I've ever had!

Yes, it is at Gaylord Opryland...this is the same place it has been 3 out of the last 4 years. I am staying at the hotel with an atrium view room....I love that hotel. Last year it was at Gaylord Palms Orlando...that was even better, because took a little side trip to WDW.

Oh...that atrium is unreal. Gaylord Opryland is so well organized, it makes it a pleasure to do the shows there. The only place that I've ever been that was better organized was at the Orlando - Orange County Convention Center. Well, that, and we stay at AKL whenever we show there! ::MickeyMo

Have a safe trip! I'm heading to Nashville this weekend too but not for a trade show and it will only take me 2 1/2 hours to get there. DH and I are headed to a hockey game at the G.E.C. Can't wait!
Have a great time. Nashivlle is one of my favorite places to visit.

Maybe I'm weird or something, but I LOVE taking road trips! I don't mind driving long distances at all. I actually look forward to using the time in the car to relax, listen to good music, and think my own thoughts without any interruptions!

Last year I drove from Maine to Memphis, TN which was a loooooonnnnnggggg drive. Not a lot to see going through Kentucky and Tennessee.

Have a safe, but fun, trip! :)

No, I work for a company that manufactures interiors for the healthcare industry...anti-microbial draperies, bedspreads, patient privacy curtains, etc. We were in booth #654. Are you the ones reponsible for the section of technical posters in the middle of the 500-600 rows? They were right next to our booth.

Drive safely and may I add to meet your new friend in a public place. People can be very different then they claim to be on the internet. Just don't want to read about you in the news. :grouphug:

Its like an hour and a half for us to Nashville, but I live in TN. Hope you have a safe drive and its a great craft show!

Ok...kind of worded that wrong...he is someone I have known(through mutual friends), originally from here but have kept in contact via the net.

I seriously considered going to the Predators game while I was there but have to many friends to meet up with to take the time for that.

Oh, ok ~~ good!

Ugh, I feel for you! My dbf is driving to a tradeshow in Atlantic City (8-9 hour drive from here) in a couple of weeks and he really isn't looking forward to it. I've done that drive a couple of times and it really bites.

Good luck!

I hate road trips so much that I'm flying to Nashville next weekend. From B'ham. 3 hrs or so by car, 30 mins by plane. I'm flying.
