Hi. DH and I are taking a cruise next Nov. and was wandering how long it would take us to drive it instead of fly to Fort Lauderdale? We have driven to Orlando many times, so whats the time difference, and we live in southern Ontario?

Go to Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/) and by putting in your starting location and destination location it will give you an estimated travel time. Keep in mind, the travel time will be if you drove straight through without any stops. As for time difference - Ontario and Florida are in the same time zone.

It took us approx. 22 hours to Port Canaveral this March, with a few meal stops. Fort Lauderdale is about 1.5 hours farther? We took the I75 route. We don't mind the drive but take long trips frequently. We cruised with Carnival and had a great time!

Fort Lauderdale from Orlando is 200 miles or approx a 3 hour drive, if using the Turnpike. I have done it many times. Fort Lauderdale is my favorite place to go to vacation if Florida....next to WDW

Probably not worth it to drive after you factor in time, gas, meals and lodging. Spirit has flights out of Detroit for $33.76 + tax if you join the $9.00 Spirit club for $39.95 which you would still save $$$$. Southwest has nonstop flights from Buffalo as well for $110.00 each way or $241.40 return incl taxes.
