Hi, I have a question and hope someone can help. I'm looking to drive to Canada from NY and was wondering if the agents are still requiring a covid test. I read that it will be random and that vaccination papers will be required. I was just wondering how often people get "randomly" selected for the covid test. Thank you!

Not often, as far as I can tell. Especially at the land border. Presumably they're testing someone, but it's not something we're hearing much about.

Your proof of vaccination gets uploaded to ArriveCAN in advance. You no longer need a quarantine plan or pre-arrival tests, but you still need to enter your trip in ArriveCAN. Make sure you do this.

Also, be prepared to wait awhile. When we crossed in March it wasn't busy, and the lines were relatively short, but many cars were being held for easily 5-10 minutes or more (and then invariably sent to secondary.) The trouble is that it's impossible to choose a line, because all it takes is one person in front of you who doesn't have their paperwork in order to hold up the line. When we finally got to the front it only took us a couple of minutes to clear, but it took awhile to get there.

Hopefully it will be better now that there are fewer requirements in place. There's just less that can go wrong.

I crossed yesterday at the 1000 Island Bridge near Kingston and I got randomly picked for a COVID testing.

The agent asked some Questions and then said I just need to check you ArriveCAN account and saw that I was flagged. ( did not need to provide the QR code it must be visible when they scan the passport)
I was given a SWITCH Canada COVID test kit and told need to do within 24 hours.
I logged in and waited for the nurse to walk me through the test. The kit is not being picked up till Monday so I don’t imagine I will have results back before Thursday or Friday.
After serious Google search it appears I do not have to quarantine as I am fully vaccinated but it was hard to find that information.

It definitely was slow crossing only about 5 cars in front but took almost 30 minutes.
