Driving Michigan to WDW...

Your Mapquest is WAY off. We are 30 minutes southwest of K-zoo and 21 1/2 hours is the longest it ever took us...and that is going a longer way, getting stuck in horrible construction, and numerous food/bathroom breaks. For you, I would say no more than 18 1/2-19 hours, plus stops.

We will take 131 south to Indiana Border, 13 South to Indianapolis (never done this portion, we normally take 94 over to 69 South), 65 South thru Nashville, thru Atlanta and hook on to 75 at Macon Georgia. Mapquest is saying 21 hr 25 min from Kalamazoo MI.

This is only our 2nd time driving. We are hoping to drive straight thru.

Weird question, but....how do your kids sleep in the car, seatbelted? Our kids have never been much into sleeping in the car and I wonder how they will actually do sleeping sitting up with a seatbelt on???? Obviously they will have a blanket and pillow, but any other ideas?

I take 75 all through KY and parts of TN weekly. I have taken 65 through the southern 2/3 of KY to Nashville several times the past few weeks also.

If you are trying to miss truck traffic, don't take 65. Personally, I see more truck traffic on 65 than 75.

I75 is built better to handle traffic, there is a 45 mile stretch of I65 from near Elizabethtown, KY to just above Bowling Green with construction, down to 1 lane this weekend. The southbound backup was upwards of 10 miles Friday afternoon. It was 3 miles northbound this afternoon.

We are coming from Port Dover, Ont which is directly across Lake Erie from Erie, PA, so either way is roughly the same time according to mapquest, googlemaps, etc....
We find we much rather enjoy the I79 scenic route thru mountains, etc. Less traffic that I75. BUT since we tow a travel trailer, at the slightest inkling of bad weather (snow, ice, etc) we avoid that route and stick to I75 which tends to be a lil safer....

Thanks for the info! What would be a good alternative? 15? or head all the way over to 31?....either way it seems so much less out of the way than driving all the way over to 69. (which I don't like)

Thanks for your help!

Well, Mapquest says the 94-69 route is about 20 minutes faster than 15 or 31 to the south side of Indianapolis, but it is dull. The other options are 31 all the way, which is slow through Kokomo (although then you can say you've been to Kokomo!); 15 to IN18 to I69; or SR15 to SR13 to US37, which throws you out onto I69 on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Just to confuse things more, when you get to the east side of Indianapolis, then you have the option of going over on I74 to near Cincinnati and picking up I75 to head to FL, rather than taking I65.

Do you take 131 south to (where) ????
I see we could jump on the toll road and hit 15 south, or go all the way over to 31.

We usually take 196 down. We've taken it all the way to 65 before, but the last couple years we have taken it to 31 and took that down to 65.

taken the 75 route to florida and the turnpike to 77 to SC and the 77 route is fun in my Passat thru the hills/mountains at 85 mph not so in the crossover, 75 is boring but the quickest route
