Driving license Nightmare!! - ARRIVED THIS MORNING :)

So, in September I happily went to the Post Office to re-new my photo licence using the reminder form. I was able to have my photo taken there and sign a digital pad and the whole application was sent over electronically.

4 weeks later .... no sign of the replacement so I called the DVLA yesterday quoted my reference and they had no record of it
Today I got a call from the DVLA. Apparently the renewal form I completed has been updated so therefore my application was made on an out of date form so they cannot process it - with 10 days till we go the Florida!

Why they have not communicated with me sooner that the application form was was out of date is beyond me - it took me to chase them to find this out.

Fortunately, the guy who called me has told me to fill in a new form and send this off to him personally tomorrow with a new photo - he will then get it on Monday and process it so that my new license is issued and sent out on Tuesday

So fingers crossed it will all turn out well

When I changed my licence this year I got it back within 4 days, fingers crossed you get it really quickly

I find the photo DL invaluable for photo ID in Florida, far easier than carrying passport around the whole holiday. I find they are asking for ID more and more each trip when using a credit card.

I still have the paper licence, but as I have to renew my passport next year I will do my licence at the same time.

A little update - dvla called today they have my updated form and my license was being printed in the morning batch. Meaning it will be posted tomorrow an therefore should arrive in Friday ( Saturday at the latest)

Fingers crossed and a sprinkling of pixie dust that it arrives on time - we fly on Monday....
