Hi

I am new to this forum so hello to fellow Disney fans
We are visiting Orlando in July/August this year travelling with Travel City Direct.

Went to Orlando last year for 2 weeks and stayed on International Drive
for 1 week and St Pete's beach 2nd week which was brilliant.
This year we are staying in a villa so would be interested in any information
that anyone has on villas in kissimmee area
Also last year I did not drive - we travelled everywhere by bus which worked out ok but this year have decided to be brave and drive!! already nervous
as you may be able to tell from this post
So any tips for driving from Orlando Sanford Airport to Kissimmee - ie best route for first time driver in USA appreciated

If you drive in the UK then you will find driving in Florida easier and a pleasure.
There is not the ' 100 mile an hour, must get there quick' attitude we seem to have here.
As for driving routes etc, your car hire firm will give you directions when you pick the car up.
Sanford to Orlando is easy,I take the Toll road (417 ) which is a very good road if you are driving for the first time in Florida.

Dont panic, its a breeze !!

I was a bit nervous the first time we drove from Sanford to Kissimmee but believe me it was a doddle - very straight forward (don't forget to have plenty of change for the half a dozen tolls of varying charges though - and because traffic moves a little slower you never feel pressured into making hurried manouvres. I bet after a couple of days of driving Florida style you will wonder why you were so nervous. :goodvibes

Hello Marcia!

Welcome to DIS

Driving in Orlando could not be simpler, Automatic cars, Air conditioning and strictly enforced speed limits make it a breeze!

We are going in July/Aug this year aswell, July 28th from Manchester for 2 weeks staying in a villa in Kissimee, Perhaps we shall see you around!

Hi Marcia and welcome to the Dis :)

We stayed in a villa in Kissimme and found it very convenient for the theme parks and of course all the restaurants on the 192.

Just to echo what everyone else says about driving- it is easy compared to the UK.

Hi Everybody

Thanks for all the tips so far - you are all starting to put my mind at rest :earsboy:

Anything I need to know about driving an automatic car - again this
will be a completely new experience so any advice will be greatly appreciated
Have told my kids that their holiday will be 2 weeks driving round airport car park (ha ha :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ). Would anyone advise trying out
an automatic in UK first.

Cheers

Marcia

Hi again

Any info on villas in kissimmee - i am travelling with Travel City Direct and all I know so
far is that villa will be in one of 8 areas - eg Indian Creek, Tuscan Ridge, Highland Reserve, Calabray Parc, Orange Tree, Grand Reserve, Sanctuary at Westhaven and 1 more I've forgotten - if anyone has any info on any of these areas, proximity to parks, facilities etc - all info appreciated - good or bad

Hi again Marcia

More people might see this if you start a new thread with your question :)

Cheers

Karen
