Hi all hoping to can depart some of your driving wisdom with me :goodvibes . I will be coming from Maitland , FL into WDW POR Riverside in the morning. Would it be quicker to take 417 or 429 to avoid traffic??

Thank you I appreciate any suggestions!!!

Maitland is not really convenient to either TOLL 429 or TOLL 417. The standard routing would be to use I-4. But if you're talking rush hour and want to avoid the stop and go, then use the 429. Two ways to use it from Maitland:

1) SR414 (Maitland Blvd) west to US441, then US441 north through Apopka to where TOLL 429 begins just west of town, then the 429 south to the Disney exit. OR
2) Clarcona-Ocoee Road west from the Maitland area and follow it all the way until it meets TOLL 429 in Ocoee and then hop on there southbound to the Disney exit.

THank you sooo much !!!! We are fighurug we would hit folks heading off to work on 4 so I am was hoping to avoid that!

You can also take SR441 south until you get to SR423 (John Young Parkway) and then take John Young Parkway to I4. That brings you past the city and puts you on I4 about 12 miles from WDW.

Assuming no accidents on I-4, the road is usually flowing pretty well at 6am. By 7am the traffic is already crawling until you pass downtown. Another congestion area is near the junction with Florida's Turnpike through the Universal Studios exit, and then it opens up again. But I-4 is definitely your best route for the journey.

If you are staying in Maitland east head to the 417 and go to WDW from there. That is not a bad drive as some of those listed.

Acutally, If you can get to Lee Rd at I4 then you have passed most of the congestion in the morning. I4 opens up there and is free flowing thru downtown.

I do this every day and the congestion is almost always from Lake Mary Blvd to Maitland Blvd and sometimes to Lee Rd. After Lee Rd, I can get to Anderson Ave with no problems. This is in the 7am timeframe.

What it's like at the FL turnpike, you need to ask the others as I don't go that far in the morning.
