Driving 6000 Miles for the Magic: A Miracle Trip

What a special part of the trip for your Grandma. Thank you for sharing it with us! :)

Great pics and installment Christamae! I would love to take my DS to sea world!!! I love the dolphin show pics! Gorgeous! I hope you are well and I can't wait to read your next install!!!

Christamae,

Oooh, I've been waiting all week for your next chapter, and you did not disappoint!

I was so touched by your description of Grandma's visit with her brother and so very happy / relieved that Uncle Bill remembered you and could have a lovely visit with the family. Who knows how quickly or slowly his Alzheimer's may progress? Now that he's in Orlando, it gives you another excuse to go back! :rolleyes1

Ah, SeaWorld! I really wanted to include a side trip there this November, but I was outvoted by the rest of the family! Oh well, democracy rules! At least I got to live vicariously through your pics. Thanks!

Until next Saturday,

Kathy :flower3:

Sea World was a great installment! We were out of town a few days this week, and I just now got caught up. I haven't been to Sea World (San Diego) since I was 6, so it was interesting to see how much more there is to it now. I'm sorry you missed the sea lions--I just love them. We went to Sea Lion Caves in Oregon during a trip this spring; it is a huge cave in the base the mountain at the edge of the ocean, where hundreds of sea lions congregate to sleep and fish, and BARK! Oh, my gosh, you wouldn't believe how loud 300 sea lions in a cave sounds!

It's so great to hear about your family's visit with your grandma's brother and yes, I understand what a blessing that was. My uncle in Oregon has Alzheimer's and we got to visit in March, thankfully, as we hadn't seen him and my aunt for 3 years, and since then his Alzheimer's has gotten a lot worse. You just never know with that disease how quickly or not it's going to progress. We had a wonderful week there with my uncle having way fewer symptoms than he'd had in months/years, and it was certainly a gift from God.

I just love your report--it always reminds me of what to be thankful for. Thanks, Christamae!

Don't worry, we still have 5 more Disney days, the drive back (I hope people stay on board for that), a special visit in Oklahoma, and my closing emotional thoughts..
Course we'll still be here can't get rid of us that easily you know :rotfl2:

Love your Seaworld photo's Christamae, we got absolutely soaked watching Shamu and lets just say salt water makes you sting :scared: It's a shame about the dolphin seating it should be set up so you get a good view! And you're so right about the heat at Seaworld it was really hot when we were there too! So lovely for your Grandma to see her Brother again :goodvibes

I'll be sad when you get to the end, but I'll be with you until you get home (have to make sure everything went well and you did get home after all ;)

Sea World is an amazing park. We have not been there in many years though because it was SO INCREDIBLY HOT AND HUMID. I'm glad you made it thru with ice packs. I was hoping to not have to read about any of your family having heat related problems.
Based on your wonderful description, we may have to go back there on one of our trips. It does look like they have added a lot of neat stuff.

Thanks for including the special visit your grandma had - it was a real little 'touched by an angel' part where a series of events thing lined up perfectly to accomplish something unexpected that was very important to your grandma (and sounds like the rest of the family too).

Christamae- Your pictures made me want to go back to Sea World! I have only been once, and we seemed to miss all the shows that day! Now I need to go back to see them!!

Christamea, what another great report.

I was drowning in self -pity this weekend, over stupid work stuff. I have no right to complain about anything. I am happy you and and family had a great time in all.

So nice that your Grandma got to meet her brother. Mine lives in Germany, I hardly get to see him either (and mom and rest of extended family too). So it's nice to have a meeting.

Loving your report, and I will follow it faithfully. I look every Saturday for it.

Best of luck to you and your family. Read you next weekend!

Great update :thumbsup2

Absolutely loved your report! It's now midnight, and I have to be up for work at 4am...ahh!!! My disney addiction taking over once again!!! :rotfl2:

Happy to see that you had a great time at MGM, that's my fav park out of the 4...also the talking palm tree....I have never heard of him! I will keep an eye out for him at AK. I have only ever talked to the trash can at California adventure park..and it was a hoot.

Looking forward to reading the rest! popcorn::

hi Christamae:wave2: Great installment.:thumbsup2 I absolutely love Sea World. i could do without the heat! The last time i went i thought Fusions was a bummer also. More of a dance show, not enough stunts.
I haven't seen Blue Horizons. Looks beautiful.:flower1:
Everytime i go into the shark encounter, i want to hurry and stay all day, if you know what i mean.
Anyway thank you for another great bit of your trippie. Looking forward to more. KIM:jumping1:

What a great installment!! Your seaworld pictures are wonderful!!! We did seaworld back when I was 16 (1992) and I remember it being cool... but not like that..... San Diego was cool but not as cool as Orlando's... IMO...

What a wonderfull TR!!!:thumbsup2 Your family is so AMAZING. I will NEVER o.k. maybe I should change this. I don't want to lie from the start;) . I probably will start to camplain, but I will remember your fam. and change my attitude!!! I just thought that between my husband (he has LUPUS and kidney failure, been on dialysis for over 6 yrs.) and my DS5 (has CP, sensory dysfunction, metabolical disorder etc.....) that it was a little overwhelming sometimes. Of course now that my husband is not on self dialysis:sad2: we don't have near the amount of equipment. Just a WHOLE lot more hospital visits. WE are gonna FLY for our DS5's WISH trip in Sep. I can't imagine driving and we are only 12 hours away.

I found this thread this morning and sat down and read the whole thing. I can't wait for the next installment!:goodvibes Your family makes the quote "Faith CAN move Mountains" I know from reading this ya'll (yes I'm from Texas) have lots of faith. Sometimes I'm sure your Dad FEELS as if he's moved mountains all day!!:rotfl: Until the next report........
P.S. you and your sister are beautifull! Innside and out!

Thanks for all your comments. :goodvibes

mrsksomeday: I hope your fiance gets healthy enough for marriage. I am glad my report is helpful. And thank you for your very kind comments :cloud9:

AnnNan, wendygrace: Thanks for your compliments and joining.

jackdis: Yep, very special for Grandma :goodvibes

Goofyluver: Thank you  Sea World is great!

KathyRN137: Thank you for your comments, enthusiasm, and the bump :thumbsup2 Perhaps you could persuade your family to go to Sea World or use a parent veto ;)

whogirl'smom: Alzheimers is a sad, unpredictable disease. I am glad we saw him before it took hold. Pier 39 in SF, CA has an area of enthusiastic sea lions. And thank you for your kindness

DisneyJo: I am glad you are here for the whole ride :) Sea World is hot but fun. Just wish they had some fans set up like Animal Kingdom.

SueM in MN: I am glad that you'll stay for the complete story. Between misty fans, ice packs, and ducking into air conditioned attractions, we managed the heat. Things falling into place is why I called this a miracle trip.

Kimberly815: Yes, do go. :thumbsup2

Backstage Gal: :goodvibes thank you  I hope you are feeling better! My great grandparents immigrated from Germany & I am 1/4 German.

blue river: Thanks for those comments...Do go to Sea World.

DisneyJenn18: Thanks for joining on-I hope I don't disappoint. Wes Palm is towards the entrance and a lot of fun.

burly (kim): Thank you for all your great posts. :) I hope you see Blue Horizons soon :thumbsup2

Tanya90210: Thanks :) Orlando's is better than San Diego's...

LeeLee2U: Wow- thanks :goodvibes And you have a right to complain-everyone does! Your wish trip will be awesome!

Okay, it has been a rough week between my gj tube replacement, Mom being told she has no iron in her body, is chronically anemic, and has to start a treatment plan, and having to put to sleep our 15 year old dog. I have the update all ready in Word and all the pictures ready in photobucket...when we get back from seeing Harry PotterIt will be posted tonight (CA time) but late

Thanks to everyone!
