Drive to Vero Beach for the day?

We're staying at BLT for 8 nights in late April / early May. Interested in thoughts on whether it is worth the drive / time to go to Vero Beach one day to go to beach, pool hop etc. Has anyone ever done this before? If so, any advice or other ideas?

FYI....We are DVC members and our family has been to WDW a number of times in past.

It is a 2 hour drive each way. If you can handle that, then a drive to VB to check it out is worth it. We love VB. On our next big family trip, the last few days we hope to stay there.
