Drive to Tampa?

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here it goes .... We are new DVC members and are planning a trip to WDW for next year, DH is a HUGE Angels Baseball fan, so much so a lot of our summer trips are planned around when they will be in what town. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed at WDW and driven to Tampa (for a BB game or any reason)? Was it a long drive? Difficult to get there?

Easy to get there....just take I-4 West.

That being said, there is always some section under construction but I wouldn't let that hold you up.

Plan on 1 hr 15 to 1 hr 30 min.

DH's family live in Tampa....easy trip and a great town.

We go to Busch Gardens every year....an easy trip from Orlando down I-4 to Tampa and back for a day trip.

Our son lives in Tampa....very easy trip from WDW....It takes about 1 and 1/2 hours.....Try not to go during the week around 5:00, lots of traffic.

Tropicana Field is actually in St. Petersburg, not Tampa. It's a few miles west of Tampa, and then south when you get into St. Pete. There are easy directions to the ballpark on the Devil Ray's website.

I drove over and back for a ballgame last year, and it was quite doable. The driving time will depend a lot on what time you leave and whether or not you hit any construction.

Great and thanks! I enjoy watching the Angels also so I am sure we will try to plan a trip when they will be playing there. Glad to know it is an easy "day" trip.
