Drive time from WDW to Cocoa Beach

Anyone know the approximate drive time from WDW to the Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area??

I sort of tried to mapquest the route, and it said 1 hour and 20 minutes, and I was amazed.... is it really that close?? YAY!!

we plan to take the 528 basically all the way there...then south to the home of Major Nelson.

any alternate opinions or suggestions for our first view of the atlantic ocean??? anything closer to wdw? we dont have alot of time, but we feel that we cant be so close to the atlantic without getting our feet wet.

I assume there is someplace at Cocoa Beach where we can get out on the sand.... right? Did the pier survive the storms? I hope so ...

It is about 45 mins to Cocoa Beach from the airport so 1hr. 20 mins would be about right.

You should be able to get on the beach but be prepared for a lot of beach damage. I haven't been over to the beach since the hurricanes because of the damage.

Taking 528 is the best way to get there. Anything you try to see along the Atlantic at this point is going to have beach damage.
