Drive from Las Vegas to Disneyland

What about Anaheim to Vegas on a Friday? If I leave Anaheim by 8am will I be able to get north of Vegas before I-15 gets really crazy northbound?

We drove from LAX to Vegas on a Friday afternoon leaving LA at around 12.30pm. Traffic was quite heavy until we got to Barstow and then it wasn't too bad at all in comparison to what we thought it would be. Obviously the earlier you leave the better, but I didn't think it was too bad given the time of day. Have fun!

There is no different route. There is I-15 and that is it.

If I were you I would plan to speed walk from the plane to the car and then start driving as soon as humanly possible. Don't stop for lunch until you get to say Victorville in CA. Well past Barstow.
No other routes :-( you don't split up to get onto other highways to get anywhere until well into the trip. Its usually 3-3 1/2 hours of straight I15.
I would not leave that late into the morning if it were me. However, I know that's not an option for you. Just get on the road as early as you can and hope for the best! If it is any consultation we have left around 9am on other days and have not experienced too much traffic.
Oh man. I wish I would have seen this thread before booking the flights!

What about the return trip - Anaheim to Vegas? Also on a Sunday. 6 pm flight.. what time would we need to leave Anaheim to safely get to the airport on time? Thank you so much for the help/advice, I really appreciate it!

I'd say driving from Anaheim to Vegas on a Sunday you should leave no latter then like 1pm. We make the drive back on Mondays usually but have done Sunday and I would a lot about 5 hours drive time to account for traffic. Normally we drive from Vegas to anaheim on a sat or sun morning leaving between 2 and 6 am and it takes 4 hours which includes a stop in Barstow. We normally drive home to Vegas Monday leaving anaheim at 7pm and getting to Vegas around midnight.

I have one rule here--we don't do Disneyland without a side trip to Las Vegas. They go together like peas and carrots.I always took my kids we found plenty to do at both places. My kids saw all the magic shows and we hit the non gambling stuff a few buffets, the fountains, etc.Actually they are all 21 now so it costs way more to go there unless we are all winning. The time can vary widely depending on the traffic. My son couldn't come with us because he was working at CA so we had a good cry about half way across the desert.Saying good bye doesn't get any easier.
