I am wondering if there are any walk up windows, quick service, or restaurant bars that serve alcohol before 4pm on the Boardwalk. Hubby and I will be arriving at The Boardwalk on Sunday around 11am and are heading over to MK in the afternoon. We would like to start our vacation off with a cocktail and snack before heading over. Any thoughts? TIA!

Big River Grille & Brewing Works at the Boardwalk is a great place. Get an outside table to just relax and enjoy the view

Thanks - at the risk of sounding like an alcoholic, does anyone know what time these and other places are open and start serving alcohol on a Sunday?

I agree with Big River Grill but would also offer up the pool bar at BWI, Leaping Horse Libation. Belle vue doesn't open until 5pm.

The pool bar is a great idea - thanks!

Guess I will do some searching to see what time exactly the boardwalk restaurants/bars open. I think I remember reading about a walk up place on the Boardwalk where you could get margaritas - that would be awesome too.

One year we stayed at BWI during the winter Olympics, I remember it seemed surreal to be enjoying a drink at the pool bar watching the winter olympics on the bar tv :drinking1 The pool bar at the Dolphin is pretty nice too. Last trip we had dinner/drinks there on arrival night before heading over to eve. emh at HS (followed a suggestions from a fellow Dis'er). The Cabana bar is a bit more adult atmosphere than LHL. Good fallbacks.

Thanks everyone! I guess the key is early and fast. We have a FP for Peter Pan that expires at 1:05 so not even sure we can make this happen.

Looks like the Margarita and Pizza place both open at 11am. Also ESPN and the Pool Bar. So hopefully we can grab a quick drink and go!

Just a suggestion, if you have park hoppers you may be able to get drinks at the various locations around Epcot World Showcase as well as the Food & Wine booths at 11 am. Could anyone confirm?

Thanks for the suggestion. Not sure about the logistics of arriving at the boardwalk around 10:30 (the earliest) and making it over to Epcot, getting a drink and snack and then taking the monorail to MK and riding PP with our FP before 1:05. Maybe?

I'd second this suggestion. If you get to the Boardwalk by 11am, you can walk through the International Gateway, grab a drink at the Rose & Crown or Canada kiosk, walk over to the Monorail and still be able to get to PP by 1:05. The only thing to consider is check in....maybe just drop your bags and go?

Hmm... Interesting. I'm assuming our room won't be ready at that time so was planning on dropping the bags and going anyway.
I guess it's more of a transportation question at this point - how long to walk to Epcot, grab a drink, and take the monorail to MK vs grabbing a drink on the boardwalk, and catching a bus to MK from BWV. Which at this point is a question for another board I guess. Lol Epcot/monorail plan sounds much more fun.

The walk to International Gateway from the Boardwalk is 10 minutes. Rose & Crown is 3 minutes from the entrance. The walk to the monorail would be another 10-15 minutes....then it's about monorail timing....but even if you have to wait 20 minutes, you'd still have plenty of time....Monorail to TTC takes 12-15 minutes, then its a quick monorail ride to MK....and you're right...it is more fun!!

What about the bar inside Flying Fish, Abracadabra or something like that.
FF doesn't open till 5pm either.
The Abracadabra Bar is not inside Flying Fish, it's between FF and Tratorria. It has it's own entrance so it doesn't have to hold to the same hours as FF. I am not sure the exact time it opens all the time but it was open at noon on the day Matthew hit the area and everything else was closed.

"Normal" hours for Abracadabra are 4pm-12pm....at least that's what's posted on disney.com

I visited Leaping Horse Libations (Boardwalk's pool bar) every afternoon on our last family trip for a Bloody Mary. They open early, around 11 am.

Another consideration for you:

We never take the bus to the MK if we are staying at the Boardwalk area with park hoppers. Instead, we will walk through Epcot and take the monorail.

You could stop at the English pub on your way to the monorail if you have park hoppers. What a great way to begin a trip! Have one for me, too!

Edit: I see someone else has already posted this idea. Great minds think alike!
