hey guys ! So what better way than to celebrate St Patrick's Day than to do drink around the world in Epcot at the world showcase...!?

Never done this before - how much time should I leave to enjoy each country and their drinks?
Any suggestions on drinks or strategies?

Thank you !

This is a tough one to accomplish, I consider myself a somewhat "accomplished" drinker and had trouble getting all the way through.

The main strategy I can recommend is HYDRATE you should have AT LEAST one pint sized glass of water per drink due to the heat, walking, and amount of alcohol you will be consuming.

Another thing to keep in mind is to balance the abv of the drinks you get to around 2 drinks (2x16oz 5% abv beer, 2x6 oz 10-14% abv wine, or 2x2oz liquor) per hour to not overextend yourself.

Also be aware of the amount of alcohol in each drink Beers like Unibroue's La Fin du Monde at the Canada Beer Cart run nearly double the abv of the typical beer and some wines can have twice the abv of others, mixed drinks are generally well controlled but are poured at cast member discretion, I've ended up with some really strong and really weak drinks at Rose and Crown in busy times.

Staying at this rate will give you a 2 drink buzz all around the world while keeping you hydrated.

I'd start the day in Rose and Crown or the like as I feel like that'd be the most crowded on St. Patrick's day.

I allocated 20 minutes per pavillion and that seemed to work out well (not including walking time from pavilion to pavilion), this allowed me time to hit places like La Cava and Tutto Gusto Wine Bar for "rests" while still checking off that pavilion.

Also make sure it's an "eat around the world" evening as well. Make sure you have food in your system at all times.

And, just as an advisory thing - be careful around the world as some will, um, make comments if you appear to be drinking around the world. Especially if you are wearing T shirts saying that's what you are doing. Or even if you stumble over a loose shoestring while having a wine glass in your hand that you took one sip out of. That's what happened to me and I was called a drunken *rhymes with witch* after drinking one sip.

Pace yourself, time shouldn't be a factor. You shouldn't think "I need to finish this drink by XX:XX am, then onto the next country by XX:XX pm". It's a marathon, not a sprint. Go at a leisurely pace, you'll enjoy it more.

This is good advice by @disnut8 . And with all the great food offerings at each country, you have some good options. Pretzels in Germany is a nice alcohol absorber!

It's funny you mention this because I witnessed something interesting on my last trip: I saw some guests who made some rude comments about a few women that were clearly drinking around the world and having a good time but not in any way being disruptive. But when some college-aged men started screaming and dropping (very loud) f-bombs like crazy in the middle of Epcot, no one in their vicinity said a word. It made me wonder if this is a double standard (women shouldn't be drinking) or if it's some psychology where large, inebriated men pose a much bigger threat than the women...? Not sure. Anyway. Carry on. :) OP, I also highly suggest keeping a steady flow of snacking while doing this. Have a great time! I'm jealous!

Actually, the best way to celebrate the feast of a Catholic saint is to go to Mass! :joker:

As an experienced Irish drinker myself, I could not do it all in one day. Maybe 2 if I was trying hard, but my favorite drink from China is quite potent, so 3 days would be better for me!

My sister who barely ever drinks, got a frozen margarita at like 11:30 and some lady goes "My gosh it's not even noon". I literally died laughing because she's the square of the family and was living it up a little bit on vacation and catches flack from some busy body.

Start in Mexico at La Cava with a margarita (passionfruit is my favorite)
Norway - beer
China - I always go for the Peach Snap! at the Joy of Tea cart
Germany - beer
Italy - Bellinis
USA - beer
Japan - sake mists at the Kaki Gori cart
Morocco - lots of tasty slushy sorts of things at the pastry and coffee bar in the back of Tangierine cafe. Spice Road Table has some nice looking drinks, too.
France - Grand Marnier slush
UK - beer
Canada - beer

Thank you so much guys! I appreciate all the tips! Don't worry- I will take my time and stop midway for a good lunch. I was looking at the suggestions and the menus available online and it seems I'm more interested in the beer offerings - it's looking more like beers around the world for me lol... except France, I want to try the orange grey goose drink they have there...

LOL, for my trip this fall for Food and Wine, I fully plan on getting a mimosa at Les Halles for breakfast. In real life, I have a drink maybe twice a month, but if I'm on vacation and not driving anywhere, why not?

I'll be very interested at F&W to see if there really are THAT many drunkards reeling about, or if it's a case of pearl-clutching teetotalers gasping at the sight of alcohol! in a theme park!

One way we have fun with this is to buy a beverage and sip while strolling about. Where ever we are when finished we get out next one. We sit & drink water and snack.

That's when you lock eyes and just stare them down. But seriously, when I go on vacation, unless someone's yelling at their kids beyond the 'I already bought you ice cream, you don't need a snow cone, too' thing, I mind my own business. I can't imagine making a comment about someone else's drinking habits. How crazy.

Besides, depending on how early you got up, 11:30am is late! (Oh, and also, who cares?!)

I have heard much about the martinis in France. I am pretty sure that 50s Prime Time Cafe has good drinks with glow cubes. But you can probably find glow cubes just about everywhere.

I did find a link to a list of things I had never seen before, so I'll leave this here and scuttle away: http://blog.touringplans.com/2015/12/05/s6_wdwsouvenircups/

Thanks ! I def will! I'll also keep track of the snacks I eat along the way and where I stop for lunch...so that I can share...
7 more days to go until WDW!!

Exxxxxactly. We went with like, 18mo olds and 3 year olds. So, we've been up for 6 hours already! If it had been me, I likely would have told her to "have a magical day" but my sister was so caught off guard by someone actually judging her for something...which never happens.

I've never seen people HAMMERED at Disney period. I've seen people buzzed for sure, but nothing absurd. And I've been during F&W although never on a weekend. I heard those days you're more likely to see bad behavior. I don't know who can even afford to get really drunk at Disney. Seems like a lot of money and commitment. I like to enjoy a more leisurely approach to cocktails. It's a marathon, not a sprint KWIM?

Then why was the margarita even being offered at that time? And it's noon somewhere in the world.
