Drinking while walking/in lines - to clarify, not to argue

I went and reread that information and it does not delineate whether or not you are in line. So unless you are in a portion of the line where it states no food or drink beyond that point, then I read it that you are allowed to drink at long as you are stationary and physically distanced. I could see Disney getting themselves in trouble with these long (1 hr+) outdoor lines in the heat of this summer not allowing guests an opportunity to drink something. Heat stroke would be a real danger.

We just got back and there is no issue with you pulling off to the side and taking a drink. You can not walk and drink, although many still do. As far as the line, what we saw was that, if the line extended out from where the original queue starts, then no on says anything to you about eating or drinking in the line. But as soon as you get to the original entrance, they have you move over to the side to finish your drink or food. Bottled water is fine, but any drink cups, need to be thrown away before you go any further.

That is kind of my worry with myself and some family members in the summer heat. It is just the longer lines without protection from heat that I am thinking of, and wasn't entirely sure how it applies. I can see saying that you have to simply stand or sit off to the side when walking, but if you are in a line, that isn't an option.

Last summer we took sips of water in lines, both indoors and outdoors, when the lines were non-moving. Mask was pulled down and immediately pulled back up after the water sips. We plan to do the same thing again this summer.

Just returned and had no problems with this. CMs would not let people with drinks/coffee, etc in the indoor part of queues, but were allowed in the outside parts of the lines. YMMV.

I wouldn't worry about this. At least in my experience (and from multiple other experiences I've read), it is not an issue to take a quick drink of water while in line. I saw countless people doing this, often right in front of CMs, and no one said a word. What the policy is really trying to prevent is people getting in line with a coffee or whatever and walking through the line drinking continuously with no mask.

We respected the rules of no eating or drinking in line with respect to not bringing in soft drinks and snacks. However if I felt I needed a sip of water while in line, I just stood on my marker and quickly took a sip or two from my bottle and replaced my mask. No one seemed to have an issue with that.

You don’t HAVE to immediately move to the next marker if you need a sip of water. Just stand in place, sip, move and catch up.

I think I understand. I have barely been around ANY people other than my husband and kids in over a year. Disney is going to be a shock. We have been hiking a bit and I can count on one hand the number of times I have been in a store. This will be something else entirely. I really asked the question because I have NO IDEA what I am in for!

Not trying to be snarky at all, but this kind of thing honestly makes me scratch my head. If you haven't been out and about or around people in a year, are you really going to feel comfortable at Disney right now?

I agree...but I also think that vaccinated or otherwise you should work your way up to a Disney trip. Going from seeing no one in year to suddenly in a theme park, doesn't seem like the best progression for an enjoyable trip.

Makes sense and easier to enforce. I think they wanted to avoid the situation where people are walking around without a mask while holding a beverage cup, then saying they are drinking when challenged by an employee.

I recommend doing a few outing before jumping to Disney. My son had mostly been home since last Marchleaving The house for dr appts only and had only just started hybrid a few weeks ago.Now we are at Disney and he has struggled with all the people and especially people not correctly masking up. I wish I had done a few more outing in public to get him use to people before we Disney’d.

I think you have two questions here since queue lines have extended past the actual entrance to the attractions due to the social distancing, or even in busy times.

Outside and before the actual attraction entrance is where the real question is ~ you are outside, you are "stationary" at times and somewhat ? social distanced. I would assume it would be okay as long as the other guests were not close to you, but we really don't know until you test the situation. This may come down to CM interpretation.

My kids and husband have been out more than me! Although I expect MOST people haven't been to anywhere as crowded as Disney since pre-covid until they get to Disney. Well, except the airport. I think it will be a bit of a shock regardless. There will be smaller steps in between, though. We have a couple of months post-vaccinations before the trip.

When we reached the main entrance to the ride, the CM said that beyond that point, no food/drink was allowed. I guzzled the rest and threw the cup away. My thinking is if the queue extends beyond the standard queue and is outside, you can eat/drink there as long as you are physically distanced and immediately replace your mask.

This is how I see it working and I don't see this skirting anything. You always could eat/drink approaching the official line. Current circumstances is make sure you are spaced and courteous to your line mates.

Lots of Disney do's/don'ts are not printed out online ... it would be a tedious list.

Since it is attraction specific you find that information at the attractions and attraction CMs always have the final word. For years CMs have stopped guests from entering line until they are done eating and drinking, directing them to trashcan. Obviously they let a water bottle or closed mug/cup to be carried but not to be opened since there is no drinking in line. I would consider them official.

With the added complication of masks & drinking/eating - there are signs everywhere now on the trashcans before you enter the official line.
