Last time we went to Disneyland we stayed at the Paradise Pier and the water tasted awful.

We rented a house this time because of our group size. What are the chances that the water will taste better in a house rental? Should we just plan to bring our own water? Is this an Anaheim/LA problem?

Thanks!

Depends on if the house has a filter or RO system. I despise the taste of tapwater here, or even the smell(especially when they crank up the chloramine), so i installed an RO system in my house.

Even a carbon filter will help the taste. One thing you can do is buy a Brita or Zero water pitcher to fill and keep in the room. Alternatively they have water bottles that have little carbon straw filters that work ok, I think ours are Camel Back brand.

SoCal water taste too different from our home well water to drink for us. We always buy a case of bottled water.

It always makes you squeaky clean after a shower. Which is also so different from our home water.

California water has always tasted funky to me. Our water here aint much better.

It depends on where they are getting it from. San Francisco has some of the best water sources in the US. Southern California is hit and miss. If they are getting it from mountain lakes in the Sierra it probably is fine. If they are getting it from wells and have to heavily treat it the quality will suffer.

We lived in Orcutt years ago. Not sure where the water came from. A few years back my wife and I went to PHX to watch a UofA/ASU B-Ball game and had breakfast. The water 'smelled' like a dusty-dirt road.

Thank you all! We should probably just plan on bringing water. We have well water at home and my parents city water is still wonderful.

I guess you get use to it but I'm always kind of surprised water tastes so terrible other places.

Interesting on the recycled water! I guess they have to do something and really they are treating it and dumping it back in the water sources now. I guess that might be why it tastes so terrible. Glad I have well water at home......

I think it tastes "thick" and it hasn't varied from the different hotels we have stayed. Hubby thought I was nuts, and said "thick" wasn't a taste--until he tasted it and agreed, haha.

Generally, we buy a gallon of water at whatever convienence store we are closest to, for use at wherever we are staying for teeth brushing, medicine, CPAP, etc. Then, I buy a litre of water in the parks each day and drink that.

I'm with you @lalasmama! Water can taste funny like that to me. I think the Kirkland water bottles tastes oily, theres something off about it.

We will get some of those 2.5 gallon totes I think for our stay.

Hubs gets annoyed at my refusal to buy Kroger (Fred Meyer) brand water, because it tastes "dusty" to me. Glad to know I'm not the only one who tastes the funkiness of some water :)

I have never drank water from anywhere that is not a water bottle while on vacation. I barely do it where i live and I live in northern California where the water is supposedly a bit better. Most hotels have water bottles that they will replenish if you need more.

Ca. water has tasted terrible since the first time I was there in 1965.
So it's probably not any better :crazy2:

I think you mean that because the water up where I live is just fine.

I use Brita personal bottles with filters and it helps a lot! The smell is what bothers me most and these bottles do a great job. Plus, I can empty them, so I'm not weighed down.

I live here and don't drink the tap water straight. We have a RO water filter at home and I bring gallon jugs of water with me to hotels.

We take our PUR filter pitcher with us. Water down there is gross. It's pretty bad in many places in California. Although not in San Francisco, where I grew up, so it came as a surprise to me when I would visit other places in the state.

Anyone know if you can still have Amazon or Costco.com deliver a case of water to DLH the day of your arrival?

My brother retired from the Metropolitan Water District that OC gets their water. I would ask him what is in his water, he would always reply, depends on what time it is. So, unless the house you rented has a whole house water filtration system, the water will taste the same as PPH water. Purchase a few cases of water.
