How many of you have actually done this? It is one of the things on my bucket list that I am planning on checking off really soon. In fact, I just posted my plan of attack (with some advice and tips) on my blog (see link below). But I was wondering if anyone here has anything to add? Any must-try drinks that I don't know about? Any tips for doing this without getting sloppy drunk? Thanks!

I loveeeeeeeeeeee frozen peach schnapps in japan at joy of tea. my friend drank around work made it to every country except mexico & she was sloppy. i didnt do it because im a light weight & one of us had to be sober to get back to room LOL

When planning this you should keep in mind that there are 11 countries around World Showcase. Take your time and have something to eat while doing the loop.

I've done it a few times but I only drink beer and I amble through WS with no particular goal in mind.

Seems like you've got the basics on your blog, so on to specific countries:

Mexico: Go inside to La Cava de Tequila for significantly better margaritas than at the frozen margarita booth outside.

Norway: I think the shot of Aquavit, sold at an outside stand,is more interesting thanthe beer option.

Germany: A good beer option, but they also have wine inside and a stand with shots of schnapps.

Italy: Tutto Gusta has more wine and quicker food options, but I do like the wines at the gelato booth.

America: If they have it, try the Red Stag Lemonade slush!

Japan: There's a hidden sake bar at the back of the Matsuhita store that offers a lot more options than the Kabuki cafe.

Canada: Sometimes AllEars says the stand sells an apple icewine, which is likely better and definitely more Canadian than Moosehead (I've never had it in person, though.)

i like your blog! :thumbsup2

i drank around the world in july 2007 (the last time i was at epcot) all by myself (meaning i didn't share my drinks-i was with another person though). i had no trouble whatsoever drinking 11 drinks in the 10 hours or so we were there. that's basically 1 drink an hour; that is nothing! and we still managed to go on all the rides and see the shows. and yes i remembered every drink!

because i did spread the drinking out for the whole day, i never actually even got a buzz (forget about getting sloppy drunk), but that's not why i was drinking around the world anyway. it all depends on your tolerance too. know your limits and share if you think you can't do it all by yourself. i am going back to epcot for f&w in october and will be attempting to drink around the world again. since there are more countries/kiosks (29 i think), i will probably share with my fiance this time (and he has even higher tolerance than i do!).

it cost about $100 to drink around the world in 2007. that's about $10 a drink. some of the mixed drinks were a little more than $10, while most of the beers were under $10. i also did shots at a few countries. that $100 is just for drinks. i didn't eat much during our jaunt, but i probably spent another $15-$20 on food (crepes were the most expensive food item i bought).

the size of the drinks varied depending on the type of drink. i would say the beers were no bigger than 12 oz. the shots were of course 1-2 oz. the mixed drink is where it varied. i had a drink in paris that was probably about 6 ounces??? the saki drinks were closer to 3-4 oz.

keep in mind this was 5 years ago, so i have no idea how much has changed in that time. i had a great time and did not get drunk, so i was able to really enjoy the other aspects of epcot.

good luck!! :goodvibes

A lot depends on your individual tolerance. If you routinely have 11 drinks in a sitting then this will be a piece of cake. But if you are more of a 3-4 drink=buzz buzz snore person then you have to plan more carefully lest you end up around Italy roaring drunk :)

EAT! Important, cause starting on an empty stomach will accelerate alcohol absorption.
DRINK! Most important, getting dehydrated from the diuretic effect of alcohol/weather will hasten your decline into an embarassing drunk. Maybe a glass of water between each country or a bottle for every two.
REST! Space out the drink intervals by enjoying the pavillions. You could probably power walk around WS and grab counter service drinks in less than 2 hours, which would put most of us under.
PORTION CONTROL! Whatever you do, do NOT start off with the liter steins at Germany, much less two of them! Personal experience :P Wine tasting at Italy is another trap to over consume.

Given your age and drinking experience you may or may not get hammered and may or may not be able to struggle through the next day hungover. There is no prize money or trophies for drinking around the world in a single day so respect your travel companions and your body and plan accordingly. It is a lot of fun when done right, so long as your partner doesn't exploit your cheerful inebriation to walk away with pricey Norweigan perfume and jewelry :P

ha! i definitely never have 11 drinks in a sitting...but i also don't sit around for 10 hours. i think if you are a moderate drinker (2-3 beers when going out with friends), you should be able to handle drinking 11 drinks in 10 hours (granted you follow the drinking water and eating advice from others).

I finally made it last December.

Start later in the day. During previous attempts I started during the day and the heat put a damper on my efforts.

As PPs have said, its also a good time to try little appetizers and such at the pavillions. That will keep you happy and pleasant instead of sloppy and annoying.:thumbsup2

I have done twice. I would make sure you have a bottle of water to sip on between drinks. Have a snack also. Make sure you are able to walk, if not find a seat & relax.

La Cava del Tequila is hands down my favorite place for a drink. Relaxed atmosphere, if you follow them on twitter you can get a free chips & dip (if they still offer it)

Tutto Gusto is a wonderful place to get drinks, my sister loves it there. Wonderful martinis.

Musts for me are a
-Tortontopolitian from Canada
-Cantoloopy from the Joy of Tea stand in China
-Sake from Japan
-schnapps from Germany
-Sultans drink from Morocco
-Chianti in Italy
-Almost forgot; American Adventure has seasonal Samuel Adams on tap.

Just to let you know, the wine available in Norway is actually Kenwood which you can purchase at any grocery store & its made in California.

I think that's it.

Drinking around the world is on my list of things to do this upcoming trip, and my plan is to share most of the drinks, and really slowly take our time around World Showcase. When we first attempted it, we started in mexico, and it took me 3 pavilions to finishing 3/4 of my margarita, there was no way I was continuing to do it. Just take your time, maybe share drinks (so no one gets messy, AND you save money), and be prepared to spend at least $100.00. I also have plans to skip a country here or there, mainly if there's nothing I really want to try.

My plan for this trip goes:
-Mexico: margarita (maybe shared?)
-Skip Norway (continue drinking margarita!)
-China: Peach snap or plum wine (shared)
-Germany: a beer
-Italy: Bellini (continue drinking through America & Japan)
-Skip America & Japan
-Morocco: Sangria or wine (shared)
-France: Grand Marnier slush
-UK: Drink (shared)
-Canada: we have an adr here, so we'll each get our own drink with lunch.

So obviously we're skipping 3 countries, but sometimes it takes a while to drink a drink, they're strong, and especially the frozen ones take some time to get down. Sharing will also really help us not get too messy, and obviously, if this is before lunch, make sure you've eaten a big breakfast!

DS and DDIL did this in March. They had something in every country. Sometimes the drinks overlapped! They would have wine or a shot. Instead of a bigger drink. Doesn't help if you get sloppy but helps finish the crawl! I was with them and I can tell you they were not sloppy and didn't annoy anyone, well OK they annoyed me a little!:rotfl2: But noone else! I wasn't drinking maybe that was why I was annoyed!:rotfl2: I would also recommend eating and making it a whole day thing. You can't try to do this in a couple hours!!

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I can't wait to do this! And thanks for the compliment about my blog! It's a work in progress!

My favorite(s) in the Cava is(are) the tequila tasting flight(s).

I did it 3 times when I did my internship there...I cant stress enough to start in england and go that way around...I ended the adventure in england on my one trip around the world and it didnt end all that well!!! The beer is heavy there!

Jägermeister? You mean people drink that by choice? :confused3

here in Germany young adults use it especially for "vortinken", that means drinking before you go to a disco or anywhere else.

we drink it as shots or mixed with energy drinks, e. g. Red Bull

an excellent drink for drinking games at partys :thumbsup2

you can also mix it with Fanta
but german Fanta is different to your Fanta since the mid 90's
