This summer we are staying at the BayLake Towers and My DH and I are planning an adult evening out. We will have between 2-3 hours and thought we would do the monorail crawl. (Have a drink at each of the monorail resorts.) I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to go at each resort and what drink it most fun.
Also, can someone tell me if the lounge at the top of the BayLake Towers is open to guest not staying on DVC points. We would like to end up for our last drink at the contemporary or BLTowers for the fireworks. Also do I need reservations at the california grill if we only want drinks?

Sorry, only DVC members staying at BLT on points and their guests are currently admitted to Top of the World Lounge at BLT.

You do not need a reservation to go to the bar/lounge at California Grill. However, you must check in at the second-floor desk for the restaurant. They won't let you go up to the restaurant, even the bar, if there are already too many people up there. The closer you are to fireworks time, the less likely it is there will be space.

Other bars at the Contemporary are Outer Rim on the 4th floor and the Wave on the first floor. Neither will have a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. There is a public viewing area on the 4th floor but I don't know how crowded it gets and how soon to be there.

Polynesian - Tambu Lounge

Grand Floridian - Mizners Lounge

At the Polynesian you have to get the Lapu Lapu. Basically it's a mai tai in a hollowed out pineapple. If you don't want the pineapple (it's great theme/effect though!) get a maitai at the pool bar and go sit on the beach in a swing or hammock or walk the grounds--so romantic at night with the tiki torches and the polynesian music. You can go out on Sunset Point, or my favorite place--if there is NO luau that night, go to the area by the luau, there are a couple wonderful hidden spots there.

If you want it in the pineapple, you have to go inside/upstairs to the Tambu Lounge (it's in Ohana) but I would still recommend taking your drink outside somewhere to drink it. Tambu lounge area is packed at dinnertime and crazy chaotic with families waiting for their dinner at Ohana. Not something nice for 2 adults to sit in the middle of for a romantic moment! (if you decide to hang around the Poly for more than one drink, you can always get your second mai tai at the pool bar and just pour it into the pineapple......faster than going inside--and cheaper, they charge a couple extra bucks for the pineapple so it's better to re-use it anyway)

Tambu did not have the backscratcher on the menu in March, but I am sure you can ask for it. It is Meyer’s Rum, Light Rum, passion fruit, orange, and guava juices, and a Jack Daniels floater. Use the straw - if you sip from the glass you will get all Jack Daniels. Plus an actual bamboo backscratcher stuck into the drink.

What about the Floridian? Where can we get a drink and take a brisk walk to Poly. What drinks are poplular there?

Narcoossee's is one of my favorites! The bartenders are always fun and engaging, you can order some great apps, and they make some stiff drinks! You can also watch the Electric Water Pageant from the verandah, and they turn down the lights and pump in the music for Wishes!

I also like the pool bar at the Poly cuz you can get a drink and then walk down to the beach for the fireworks.

I'll be doing this with my girlfriends 3 weeks from today!! One place off the monorail we all want to go to is the Territory Lounge at WL- they have a Gran marnier flight there we meant to try last time, and never made it. So that is DEFINITELY on our list for this year!! We'll just have to take a little detour to do it....

We attempted this in March - Poly Tambu lounge for Lapu Lapu's was great, they didn't have the backscratcher on the menu, but there was a funnel full of backscratchers behind the bar! I found the Contemporary Outer Rim lounge to be awful- we left - it was full of families waiting for Chef Mickeys, and there were screaming kids everywhere, not very "lounge" like! We quickly departed for the Wilderness Lodge, and had a nice relaxing beverage and BLT flatbread there. Never did make it to the GF!! However it was a nice way to spend some time after the park.

Thanks to all the good advice. I never thought of including WL. i will have to research boating over there. I was just thinking monorail but a boat ride sounds kinda romantic. Can you take your drink on the boat?

I did this last year! It was a lot of fun!

I didn't go to any of the restaurants in the monorail resorts... just the lounges.

At the Tambu Lounge at the Poly I got a Lapu Lapu:

At the Mizner's Lounge at the GF I got a Magical Star Cocktail (but it's on the Disney standard drink menu, so you can pretty much get it anywhere)

Here's a video of that drink!

We also got some complimentary nuts at the Mizner's Lounge

And at the Outer Rim Lounge at the Contemporary I got a Blue Glowtini (also available on the standard drink menu so you could pretty much get it anywhere)

Our bartender at the Outer Rim was fantastic! His name was Ray and he'd give us games and puzzles to do while we were there! And he performed magic tricks for us! He was just so nice and he really made us feel very welcomed! :thumbsup2

We did the Monorail Crawl last year, but we skipped Mizner's. We stopped in, but it was just too quiet for us. I didn't expect a dance club atmosphere, but it was like a funeral parlor when we went.

I never thought about going to the bar at Narcoossees! I don't know why not, we've sat there waiting for a table before. :confused3

I think we'll do that this Fall. I don't have a Crawl planned, but I'd love to stop in Narcoossees for a drink & Wishes & maybe a dessert.

Don't forget the bar area at Citricos is an option too. There are some bar stools, and also some tables with nice view of the grounds. Full bar and wine, and some special apps. Quiet -- so not for everyone.

We did this last month.
While not on the menu, if you get a bartender who can make it, try for the Space Monkey at the Outer Rim.

At Tambu Lounge we like the Tradewinds (also not on the menu anymore) and Lapu Lapu.

At Mizners we just get our regular bar drinks since we haven't found anything special there.

What time are all these bars/lounges open 'til? Does everything shut down around 11pm, like all else on Disney Property? haha
