I can't stand to see people walk through a smoking area ( that is marked by signs and what ever) and then start waving there arms and coughing.

I competely agree with you on this. I go to Disney with a smoker and when we are in the DSA's, there is ALWAYS someone that does the hand waving thing walking through. That is when I want to hand them a map and tell them to look at it and go another way. It would be one thing if smoking wasn'
t legal. I understand the smoking areas...noone wants to get burned by a cigarettes. I am still peeved that you can not smoke in your hotel room anymore. It wouldn't kill Disney to have a set amount of rooms designated for smokers.

This ia always a good discussion to watch, cause there are people on both sides of this issue....My 2 cents I enjoy a beer or 2 and spend average of 6 nights in wdw and maybe do MK 1 day possibly 2 and usually keep some beer in my room but I do not go into dt's from not being able to have a drink 1 day out of a week for a few hours at a theme park, so its a non issue for me. As for smoking not a fan, to me there is nothing that can make someone less attractive than smoking and absolute instant turn off, but respect those who use the dsa and have a dd who has asthma so I avoid those areas. WDW is a private property, they reserve the right to let in who they want and make any rules they choose 2 so the its a free country or my rights are being taken away isnt an argument.

Op since you are looking for all things that may be inconvenient you may want to change the title of your thread. Just a suggestion.

Not sure if you were aware but gum they make inconvenient for a reason. They don't want to promote it. More sticky messes for them to have to scrape off the ground etc.

There are numerous ways to get it from outside the park (and I do) but I'll say access to reasonably priced water that doesn't taste horrible or make people feel ill. If anything the price of bottled water shouldn't be so high since it's such a necessity in the heat. People end up going without and getting dehydrated.

Slightly OT: How much is alcohol, on average, on WDW property? I've never been able to buy alcohol while there before (I turned 21 in December), so I'd quite like to try a cocktail with a meal or two - if they're not insanely priced!

You can get free cups of ice water from any cs location. The water is filtered, so it tastes okay. Obviously, it won't taste the same as the water you're used to at home, but it's certainly better than getting dehydrated.

On average its between $5-$10. If you only plan on having few cocktails with dinner then probably not a budget buster. My DH is a beer drinker and we actually have GardenGrocer delivery it with our food order to help with the cost.

How do you feel about the lack convenience of alcohol/lighters in Disney World. As you know, only certain parks allow alcohol and even getting them at hotels can be rough. To even purchase a lighter in one of the many Resorts you have to ask an attendant in the gift shop for one behind the counter and you must have a license to prove you are 18 or older. Do you think this is drastic or a good way to keep Disney World "clean" and "pure?" Does anyone have any stories about some of these inconvenience that you have experienced while on vacation?

I don't smoke, but I have not had any problems finding alcohol at Disney. ONLY The Magic Kingdom does not serve it. We've sat and had a beer at AK, DHS and Epcot ( Epcot, more than one, the most "drink-friendly" park ). All resorts have bars, even the All-Stars. All Gift shops sell beer ( even if it's crappy Megabrews ). Most restaurants have alcohol, even some counter service places. The only inconvenience is price...

As soon as I saw your thread I thought..."Oh Boy how long before it gets into a smokers vs non-smokers OT post war"....to answer your question.....As a smoker, WDW hasn't openly sold ashtrays, matches, lighters etc for YEARS....a lighter can be purchased as you described...that being said As a smoker, I know this & have to be sure I have my ability to light my cigarettes with me or since I will be smoking in a DSA anyway bum a light from someone else.....easy peasy

One of the first things I researched when thinking about a WDW vacation was WINE. I wanted to be able to have a few glasses at night without having to pay a hefty markup for every glass. I have come to the conclusion that unless I get a garden grocer delivery or am willing to taxi off property I am going to have to pay Disney prices.

I have come to the conclusion that buying a couple of bottles in Epcot would be our best option, however, I think that one evening my sister and I will make the trek over to AKL to the Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar because I really enjoy South African wines.

ugh people are so uptight when it comes to smokers. i dont get how people can be so rude and treat smokers like the scum of the earth. like they are SO perfect just because they dont smoke. makes me sick. and I am not even a smoker. Your kids are not going to get lung cancer because they walk by a couple people smoking outside, get over yourself. sorry to get off topic it is just really annoying.

last time i was in disney i spent a ton of money on alcohol, it really adds up. you are better off buying it from outside then bringing it in. And dont get mixed frozen drinks in the parks, because I'm pretty sure there is barely any alcohol in them and they are the most expensive. I would say the average price for an alcoholic beverage is around 8 or 9 $.

i like sweet wine on occasion and they have an AMAZING red sweet wine called Jam Jar at AKL. I like it so much that I came home and bought a couple bottles online. the bottle online cost 9$ a glass at disney cost 10$

If you like South African wines, you may want to check out the selection at Zawadi Marketplace while you are at AKL. I haven't looked at it closely, but, I've been told that it's a decent source for bottles of wine to purchase for your room.
